uk phone numbers

I hate the fact there's no way to find out who owns phone numbers in the UK. Is there anywhere you can at least search to check the area code or something to find out WHERE they're calling from? Got some missed calls you see, any help would be very much appreciated

someone told me last night it was from the south somewhere

and i got all excited cause i know someone in the south WEST. but obviously wasn't them then

they tried calling at 11 yesterday morning and i only noticed around midnight.

how do you drain your head? i drank too much water last night and i always read tales of how you can die because it goes into your brain and i do feel like my brain is floating in water. or maybe it's just placenta and it's always like that? i'm not sure.
