One of my friends just said that it's strange listening to just one track on repeat a couple of times in a row and that she never does it ... I do it quite a lot and I didn't really think there was anything strange about it. Well, at least not until just now. Am I on my own with this one???

Re: Repeat

I do this constantly. I get obsessed with single songs. Traynor would have a fit.

Re: Repeat

My Mum does this, lyke, 15 times in a row. Worrying.

Re: Repeat

I do it sometimes... the worst example is with !!!'s "Get Up" which I had on loop for a whole hour. Which to be fair is only 6 times.

Re: Repeat

Yup exactly, I do that as well but then I try to hold myself back from listening to it too many times in a row. It feels so wrong :|

Re: Repeat

Whatever happened to Traynor?

I don't think repeating a track a few times is bad.

Re: Repeat

Nothing wrong with that! Whenever I buy a single I usually listen to it constantly.

Re: Repeat

mmmm i have been doing this all day! the only danger is of killing stuff with overplay....

Re: Repeat

my sister does it all the time. luckily im a gy!be fan, so dont have time to listen to a track more than twice

Re: Repeat

Hmmm I used to do htis, but don't anymore, at all, no matter how hard a song hits me.

Re: Repeat

Of course you can lisent a song as much you want. But he means perheps that wenn there's a concept album you lisent automatically the whole album. And I personally prefer to lisent a the whole cd because I like all songs and I usually don't buy singles....

(sorry my english is not very well but I'm still learning!!)

:)

Re: Repeat

hmm yeah good point, I don't buy singles at all. But then, you still have the 'singley' songs on albums, dontcha?

Re: Repeat

Possibly, but I still listen to whole albums so that's no problem and I don't buy singles either it's just with certain songs really.

Re: Repeat

sure but only popular bands bring out singles so it depends what kind of musik you prefer

Re: Repeat

On occasions I only like one song by a band so to make it a worthwhile listening experience I play one song over and over. Don't try this tactic at their concerts though, they can get very shirty after the fourth request.

Re: Repeat

I's slow to catch on the other day with Brainlove's Catchiest Songs thread. I went for pop delights when I think I should have been thinking, Repeat.

Relative Ways - Trail of Dead. If this was pop-punk then I'd love pop-punk.
Boys Better - The Wrens. This one and Hopeless.
Track 4 and Cause = Time (YFIIP) - Broken Social Scene.
Crank - Catherine Wheel. I relate to songs about junk. But the theme of this song plays second fiddle to Brian Futter's superb guitar work.
New Orleans - Silver Jews. Berman and Malkmus. Nuff said.
Isn't A Pity - Galaxie 500.
Don't Try - Built To Spill
Track 1 (Penace Soiree) - Icarus Line
Rose Parade - Elliott Smith. Have you guys heard Elliott's first band, Heatmiser? Fucking ace.
Hit The City - Mark Lanagan w/ Peej Harvey

These are songs that have lately caught my fancy. This is a revolving list to be sure.

The other day in the car I repeated Relative Ways -er I dunno- six times, and that's on a stellar album start to finish. I get unnaturally excited by great songs. So sue me!

Re: Repeat

I usually don't do it that much, but sometimes, there's a song i can't stop listening to ( at the moment it's Bromheads jacket - leslie parlaffit or Circlesound - get up get out ).
I don't think there's anything strange in that.
As for overplay, i think i've listen to 'Faith' by the Cure whole nights and it's still one of my favourite songs ever.

Re: Repeat

i had louie louie-the kingsmen on for an aggggggge last night...but that was cause i was too lazy to put anything else on

Re: Repeat

Been listening to "Another Day Full of Dread" by Bonnie Prince Billy and "maritime (Mike Patton Remix)" by ISIS a lot over the past few days. Fucking great.

Re: Repeat

I do it rarely. I did it the other night to Louie Louie by Black Flag. And like the stuff on the Nuggets boxset, i'll just play one track over and over.

I only really do it with one off singles that aren't on albums otherwise.

Re: Repeat

the longer a song the more satisfying it is to repeat, especially when its the kind of longer track that could be a number of different ones stitched together. sometimes certain tracks are so good that listening to anything else instead or indeed afterwards would be too disappointing. tracks i have been overplaying recently:-

Mclusky - You are my sun
Matt Elliott - The End
Quickspace - Death and Annie
Trail of Dead - Heart in the Hand of the Matter

I don't like being told how to listen to music. I'll listen to the odd track here and there if I want to and make endless compilations of songs - that's the kind of rebel I am.

Re: Repeat

There was a time when i could listen to Quickspace - Ennios blues for hours...

Re: Repeat

Just checked my old Cds : it was 'The Precious Mountain' ...
Been listening to it, don't know when i will stop now.

Re: Repeat

quickspace do seem to be the band for leaving you wanting more. 'They shoot horses don't they?' must be up there in the top 10 tracks i've listened to the most. 'death and annie' is slowly catching up

Re: Repeat

Quickspace are ( were ? ) an amazing live band. I hadn't listen to them when i decided to go see them ( because some i knew was the promoter of the gig, and he was as much a Low-fan as me ) and they were so intense...

Re: Repeat

i've only heard about 10 of their tracks (downloads and that) - seem a bit hit and miss so i have always put off buying something by them. But when they are good etc

Re: Repeat

I've done that recently with the new Special Needs single. Banquet had that effect the first time it was released. And Lizzie's Lion by Mystery Jets has to be repeated.
