Scariest music

Who scares the shit out of you?

I find "Sweetheart" by Suicide actually scarier than "Frankie Teardrop". I just get visions of a man serenading the corpse of the hooker he just garotted.

"Diane" by Husker Du is taken out by the acoustic cover Gravenhurst did, the "I'd rather rape you and kill you instead" bit just works better.

Re: Scariest music

I think the first Mistress album, Blut Aus Nord-the work which transforms god or Darkthrone-under a funeral moon are the cds most likelt to give the willies at this current moment in time. theres just something inherently malvolent and inhuman about the ambience of those albums. Dead Billy by Big Black is also quite unerving, and when I first heard it that bassline from Archives of Pain put chils down my spine

Re: Scariest music

All of Slayer's Reign in Blood was scary-as-shit!! esp when you're like, 12. I still get scared reading the slayer lyrics from that album to this day.

Re: Scariest music

Ever heard ESKIMO?????

Re: Scariest music

I find most of Xiu Xiu's songs quite scary, really.

Re: Scariest music

yeah xiu xiu definitely.

the most obvious that springs to mind is wolf eyes, only song I really like is 'stabbed in the face' and it's pretty terrifying.

Re: Scariest music

dirge by death in vegas spooks me a little bit

Re: Scariest music

Not so much scary as wierd and inhuman is the original 'Xmas Steps' by Mogwai, the quiet section then these really bizarre and malevolant guitar strikes coming in rhythmically.

Also, 'Like Herod' is a SCARY song the first few times you listen to it, still gets me occasionally because I can never quite remember when it all kicks off.

Re: Scariest music

Throbbing Gristle - Hamburger Lady

I first heard this quite late at night in bed with the lights off, and it scared the shit out of me.

Re: Scariest music

The last two minutes or so of In Your Arms by The Cooper Temple Clause are...intense.

Re: Scariest music

The song that gives me the willies is Enraptured By Evil by Akercocke. Shit everywhere

Re: Scariest music

the end scream on noir de sirs 'vive le fete'. okay so the rest of the song is poor but that is jus 'hairs standin up on back of yr neck' territory.

if you have ever seen the last track of isis's oceanic played live then that is pretty scary, especially cliffs vocals.

Re: Scariest music

After School Special - Mr.Bungle
Track 2 off of The Beast by Wolf Eyes/Smegma

Re: Scariest music

I'm currently listening to a DJ Screw mixtape and as i'm not high it's really creepy.

Basically, it's gangsta rap mixed especially to get high off cough syrup to. So imagine 2Pac being played...really...s..l..o...w....l....y....

After a half hour it starts sounding normal and you do everything really slowly yourself.

Re: Scariest music

where can I get that? It sounds amazing!

Re: Scariest music

search soulseek for dj screw, bound to find some.

don't talk to the people with the files though, they're excessively stupid most of the time.

fittingly, Screw died a few years ago of a codeine syrup overdose.

Re: Scariest music

the opening bars of south of heaven by slayer ... bonechilling!

the ugly organ by cursive ... intense!

kiss during the 80s ... gasp! shock! horror!

Re: Scariest music

It has to be the opening of "Heirate Mich" by Rammstein...

Re: Scariest music

Also, the second verse from Sisters of Mercy "Marian" and the part in German too...

Re: Scariest music

That Humpty-Dumpty song which is on my nursery rhymes tape. Scares the shit out of me.

Re: Scariest music

IIIII WANT YOUR SOOOOOUL

actually, my answer is 'Stay' by Shakespeare's Sister...

Re: Scariest music

Aphex Twin can be as scary as fuck, unless he's being really not scary at all, then he isn't.

Re: Scariest music

ba ba ti ki di do is scary in the dark...

Re: Scariest music

Anyone remember that Tracey bird off The Void? I remember her being insulted by the new Manics fans, and challenging them to listen to The Intense Humming Of Evil, as it would frighten them away. Thought that was a bit over the top, but it does have quite intense hums of evil, that are on the scary side.

Re: Scariest music

I find Coldplay pretty scary actually.

Re: Scariest music

On a more serious note, Henry Cow and Faust!

Re: Scariest music

Aphex Twin - Come To Daddy

hairs on back of neck moments all the way though.
