I have tried HMV, Virgin (whatever it's called these days), Beatdown, Reflex, Windows, Amazon, Ebay....
Were any copies actually made?
For fucks sake it's been ages now. And for those of who say "iTunes", fuck you, too..

haha.
its what is know in "the biz" as a "monumental fuck up"
play.com
thats where i got mine from.8.99 i think it was.go there
I got mine
from HMV. The rack was chock full of them.
I believe...
...that practically all copies were lost between the label and distributors. And I'm guessing with DiS being a fairly small label they don't have the resources to do another press so quickly? I odn't know. You would have thought they'd announce it or something instead of letting everyone wonder why they can't get it.
lost?
how the fuck can so many cds just get lost?!!
this is very embarrassing!
Terminal 5 did it with baggage...
shit, that's it!
maybe they were being sent to the distro by air so have been lost at terminal 5. perhaps they're now in italy being sorted properly....
I've ordered it but I haven't recieved it yet because of this affore-mentioned monumental cock up.
Erm
It is on Amazon. Really really.
^
i got it from amazon a few weeks ago.
I ordered it on Amazon over 2 weeks ago
and it still hasn;t turned up...
Oh yes
I failed to mention that a)
I ordered it off Amazon a fortnight ago and it's still "unavailable" and thus, late.
b) I live in Newcastle. There is precious nothing in the way of music shops that sell something which isn't well known. There are a couple (mentioned above) and neither of them had even heard of it, and gave me the look of "get the fuck out the shop with your funny questions, you dick".
Well I live in Northamptonshire, I'm claiming the win.
*In a small town in Northamptonshire near Kettering.
I used to play a game
called Premier Manager (the original) and Kettering Town were in the Conference League. That is all I know about Kettering.
True story.
Haha, all that's worth knowing to be honest.
Only knowing places through football in real life and on games is amusing.
^ that game was GREAT.
I once led Stafford Rangers to the Premiership.
Good times!
Was that the one
Where Rugby ALWAYS ended up in the Premier league, even though they were rubbish? I don't even know where Rugby is, it just gets in the premier league..
at some festival some guy came up to me and asked if I had any kettering.
morning after I realised what he actually said.
Corby?
Do I pass go and collect £200?
Nah you lose, I live in Rothwell.
ok
I got it off ebay
Delivered next day.
oh dear...
still M.I.A then... and the poor guys didn't even have any themselves to sell for most of their tour either.
...
I found the album really disappointing, but maybe I just haven't got into it yet.
Shame about this distribution problem since there does seem to be some genuine anticipation.
i didnt love it at first
give it time though.its brilliant :)
Do Youthmovies...
Have their own official site? DIS seems to be turning into it.
^nah
DiS is the official Broken Records site now ;)
Jay-Zeeeeeeeee
I got mine a few weeks back form Amazon
as I kinda knew my crap HMV and Zavvi wouldn't have any good music in them. I hope this gets sorted soon fo people who haven't got it its a treat of an album.
It looks liike
Youthmovies are in desperate need of sound tracking strategies :)
I got mine from Nottingham HMV a couple of weeks ago.
^2/10
If you're in newcastle...
Try RPM, they'll be the most likely to have it. Also there's Alt Vinyl or whatever it's called near the carling academy.
Tried new and used on amazon or play.com at all, there were a fair few for about 8 or 9 quid the other week?
This pissed me off a bit too
I was back in England for a week, two weeks after it came out, and I checked around all 8 Brighton shops that I knew- none of them had it. "There's a problem with the distribution", they all told me, "we've yet to get a single copy."
Just fix it before mid-June, when I come back, yeah? I've been waiting for this thing for ages.
oh dear
sounds like a right nightmare, whats the official story with this?
Yes
What is the official story?
The official story,
please..
what's happened?
have they been nicked or something? did the courier pocket a load for the market stall? is it an insurance job? rumour and speculation must be put to rest!
I would...
...love to hear the official story on this too.
See the bulletin at the bottom
:)
has anyone managed to...
track down a copy lately then?
'cos its rubbish
probably
^1/10
lazy
HMV in Oxford
have got loads. Get on the bus!
didn't
meet my expections at all, a pretty boring albm.
i think it's getting fixed
even high wycombe have a truck load now.
one of the best albums I have heard in ages.
utterly addictive. gives me a sore throat as I try to sing along...
^this
THE MINOTAUR! CERBERUS! THE UNICORN! A GOLDEN COAT FOR YOUUUUUU!
I NEED THIS F**KING ALBUM!!!!!!
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!
it's all very quiet
from DiS
and you didn't even carry a review of the album (not that you want to sound biased, but some publicity wouldn't go amiss...) or perhaps even some links to some nice reviews, anything?
i think it's quite admirable
that they don't review their own bands. they do run banner ads and the board is constantly alive with youthmovies talk.
i'm still waiting for my copy to arrive from norman records, but i've downloaded the leak in the meantime. it's superb.
it'd be good to have some kind of feature
and also maybe an explanation of what the fuck happened to all these cds to stop us all whinging on these boards...
just keep bumping the thread so it becomes featured thread of the week in the mailout....
yeah
some sort of feature would indeed be ncie.
Whats happened?
We WANT ANSWERS DAMNIT!

i'm really glad
they had copies with them when they played the oxford show at least, but it's a shame for the other places that they ran out pretty quick.
i got mine from itunes,
but a lot of people prefer to have the cd.
i got my housemate to get me one when he saw them with foals
but when i spoke to sam about it at the coventry show, its obvious they are all pissed off about the situation.
no comment
bump
it's really dissappointing
as I ordered it online, had to wait ages, didn't even get an email saying it was out of stock, saw one copy in HMV in Southend, grabbed it (even though it was more expensive in store) then had to go cancel my order. I've been a fan of YMSS for ages and if I'm having trouble finding it what about the casual listeners who have read a review and are intrigued enough to check out a physical copy. They're essentially fucked.
FAO: SEAN
If you're reading, get explaining...
having problemo's too
...
curiousity killed the cat...
This thread has intrigued me though.
Same here
I can't help but keep coming back to find out what's happened
.
Ive had a HMV online order in now for ages!
Still hasnt been sent, its not amusing.
weird
it's them who has all the stock, you should have it pretty soon
distributors cocked up
little we could do as it isn't a priority list for them, sadly. i did explain this, about 3 times, over the past fortnight.
all's sorted now and i dunno why the tone of things is that we'd be doing this on purpose, we'd obviously wanna make some of our money back too.

Big bulletin:
Subject: 'Good Nature' is actually available in shops now...
Body: Okay, so there was a fuck up and some people have been finding it difficult to buy our album in shops.
This has been pretty distressing for us but I have assurances that from next week it should be a lot easier to get hold of.
Without going into too much detail it was basically down to an error resulting in every HMV in the country getting twice the stock they ordered in the first week of release. This then had the knock-on effect of there not being enough remaining stock for all the other shops that had placed orders... So more CDs were manufactured, which understandably took a couple of weeks.
As it stands now, all shops waiting for stock should have copies next week. There is also stock in the warehouse of the distributor, so any and all record shops can place orders as normal.
Right now you can buy the album from...
Action Records
Play. com
Banquet Records
...also, 200 HMV's across the country have or had copies of the album, so it's worth checking them, although from what I gather many only actually had 2 copies.
Anyhow, if you're told in your local record shop that there are still distro problems then please politely tell them otherwise and get them to place an order.
In better news, the album has been rather well received. Here's some choice quotes...
(make sure you read to the bottom or skip them to get to the gig details and rest of the news)...
"...with the release of their exquisite debut album Good Nature it seems that the recognition Youthmovies deserve is sure to follow. Although obvious comparisons can be made to the angular agit-punk pop ferocity of Foals, Youthmovies are far more adept at exploring the more intricate side of the genre, creating soundscapes that rage with a relentless brutality and aching compassion. 5 Stars.
The Independent
"Long beloved of the Britrock underground, Youthmovies crackle between dense prog, jazz-trumpet interludes and euphoric vocal melodies that shouldn’t work but do. ’Good Nature’ delights in its own obtuseness.
7/10"
NME
"Unlike some pseud peers who claim to experiment in order to mask a lack of writing craft, here’s true innovation. Accessible thanks to its raw beauty, the unexpected twists thrill with every shock, grandiose yet always in thrall to their bold melodies. Compelling in scope, visceral in its questing energy. 8/10.
"
Teletext
"The Oxford quintet has channeled their explosive, expansive tendencies into a powderkeg of a record, making ’Good Nature’ as complicated as it is explosive. In less accomplished hands, songs like ’Surtsey’ and ’Magdalen Bridge’ would be ruined, yet the confidence of Andrew Mears and cohorts turns them into truly mesmerising, taut works of art. If you’re sick of hearing the same old shit then you need Youthmovies in your life.
4/5"
Big Cheese
"Good Nature is thick with memorable pop... It’s a thrilling journey, revealing something fresh each time, and while there are passages when you can compare Youthmovies with other bands, ultimately they’re indefinable and incomparable.
9/10"
Rock Sound
"Strikingly original and refreshingly capricious in style, the Oxford five-piece have crafted something that, while far from immediate, demands attention and admiration. Good Nature is a glorious cacophony way ahead of its time, cementing the aptitude, innovation and creativity of Youthmovies – and, assuming the world is ready for it, underlines the band as one hell of a bright prospect.

"Unclassifiable"
Q Magazine
"...time changes, trumpets and lyrics about ’sweethearts with cataplexy’.
Youthmovies brilliantly bridge the divide between emo and prog, showing kids how much better they could have it"
Observer Music Monthly
"Good Nature is pretty much faultless. Youthmovies have shown that originality is the ultimate key to longevity, and you can bet your bottom dollar that when most of the here-today, gone-tomorrow scene hoppers fall by the wayside, Mears, English and company will already have conquered their next voyage of discovery.
Timeless then, but did you really expect anything less? 8/10"
contactmusic. com
"Youthmovies are delicate, thoughtful, challenging and totally original within their genre – they do not try and use shallow gimmicks to do something new but rely on skilful song-writing and technical ability to create songs that on their own contain as much variation as most decent indie albums... My mere words cannot do Good Nature justice.
10/10"
student-direct. co. uk
"The lasting union of Youthmovies has borne wonderful fruit in ’Good Nature’. 4.
5/5"
gigwise. com
"Sinister, challenging and fascinating, ’Good Nature’ is surely one of the most original and interesting British albums that 2008 will see.
"
The Fly
"...this LP could potentially be an album of the year.
Ballsy, massively ambitious, exuberant and endlessly fascinating, it could just take over the world, if only enough people learn how to speak its language"
Loud & Quiet
"Good Nature is certainly one of a kind. More charisma and feeling than their peers, Youthmovies not only float between genres on the album as a whole, but even within individual songs... So seamlessly are genres touched upon and moved between that it’s impossible not to appreciate the skill of this Oxford band; wide-ranging though the influences and end-product may be, Youthmovies are both grounded and proficient at everything they turns themselves to... This album is one to fall in love to, even if Youthmovies have spent hours deliberating over just how and when you will do so. And that’s the reason why ‘Good Nature’ is so challenging, exciting and compelling.
"
noizemakesenemies. co. uk
"Youthmovies come from that new Oxford set of bands that use weird time signatures and play up past the 12th fret. Ten years ago they probably would have been called math rock, but since that feels like a dig in this day and age let’s just call them good listening. If you took all the affected bad attitude out of Shellac, all the "hip dad" fanship out of Radiohead, and all the embarassing terribleness out of Mark Ronson, what you’d have left is a pretty good facsimile of their sound (as well as a trashcan full of abominations).
"
Vice
"it’s the material they’ve documented on ’Good Nature’, which gives the strongest indication as to what their strategy has been all along; taking everything you love about music and delivering it without holding anything back. Good Nature is undoubtedly one of the most exciting, challenging and important release this year will hear.5/5.
