I went there with an ex-girlfriend for a weekend, we went to the baltic and went to see a show, it was good enough, although i had a cold at the time...and she was one of those arty types so we probably stayed at the Baltic for 2 hours more than most people...The view from the lift is worth it though...
It is charver-tastic but the charver's are nice and not the type who are likely to glass you for looking at them 'funny'. But they can be avoided easily also.
All the architecture's stunning around Grey St / Pilgrim St.
Go to Jesmond Dene, that's gorgeous and they have a (admittedly kind of crap but nethertheless amusing) art market on Sunday morning. They also have a pets corner. Woo - Rock and Roll.
Baltic's great. Worth it for the views alone... The Laing art gallery is good stuff for a couple of hours.
Tons o decent pubs: Head of Steam, Tilleys, Telegraph, Cluny, Tanners - There are a couple of nice ones down the quayside too - The veggie pub there was always okay... Not sure about clubs anymore but World Headquarters is a fairly safe bet.
Also, please for me go to Blakes Coffee House on Grey St and have a veggie sausage, cheese savoury and salsa sandwich. I miss them.
Thought as much
cheers!
The bridge is quite nice.
Actually no. I can't do it. I just can't bring myself to say a nice thing about Newcastle. Keep yourself to yourself and get out of there stat.
Does the BALTIC
still exist?
yes
of course it does. It's brilliant.
what's this hate towards Newcastle? It's hardly a scary place. "Keep yourself to yourself"? Jesus...
Yeah, I like Newcastle...

xx
Jesus would probably get out Newcastle sharpish too
before the oh so "friendly" natives tried to bottle him for being a hippy
Don't know if it's still there
but a cinema was temporarily housed in the old town hall (i think) in Gateshead, it was quite a nice building to see a film in.
stay away from the maximo park, you can get into dire straights in there
*runs off giggling*
Newcastle's ace...
