watched it last night. Pretty odd fillumn, definitely not what I was expecting from George of the Jungle. Brilliant film, very odd and surreal.
Anyone else seen it. What did you think?

The Reflecting Skin is my favourite film
by Philip Ridley. It's very good - I would like to see ...Darkly Noon. Are they similiar (if you have seen TRS)?
i havent
would like to though if darkly noon is anything to go by
it's not very surreal
just quite grotesque. It's Americana, but more disturbed than I've seen it before: paedophilia, arson, exploding frogs...
i saw reflecting skin
at too young an age and it really messed with me...a bit trepidatious about a second viewing!
darkly noon was just great as i remember - uniquely weird.
and, of course, him off of the mummy and, to a lesser extent, the mummy returns.
did you see it on the moviedrome thing?
Ah, Moviedrome.
I think about this film every week, but don't watch it very often at all. It stays with you.
could someone
summarise the reflecting skin's plt please? I really don't know if I want to watch it. Darkly Noon has had a big enough effect on me and the relfecting skin sounds more disturbing.
You'll be fine...I think
It's set in a small American town. The plot revolves around the family of a young boy living there - his brother is coming back from fighting for the Army, his parents are in a dysfunction marriage. In the town, young boys are being abducted. The boy's father is suspected of being involved. A woman living on her own is accused of being a vampire by the boy, who thinks she is to b. It turns out that the boy's older brother is having a sexual relationship with her. Tragic consequences etc...
It's very emotionally overwrought (like the other Ridley stuff I've seen) and it has stuck with me. Think I saw it when I was 14 or 15 too. It's visually really really powerful, and yes, it was disturbing - I think about it quite often. So yeah, maybe you should wait a while to see it?
sorry, very badly written
Basically, the main character is hugely over-imaginative and the plot hinges on his imaginings...he's traumatised by his father's death and his friend's murder, so he starts to fantasise to make sense of what's going on (in his own way) and this has knock-on effects in this real world...
thank you :)
i make it sound like I'm stupidly unstable. I'll definitely watch it. Not sure when though.
