Re: glasto so far

It's been a bit wet hasn't it?

Re: glasto so far

i chuckled when i saw that ... some friends of mine are down there , and for one of them its his first festival experience

Re: glasto so far

isnt it just a bunch of bands I.T. managers like?
fatboy fucking slim?
have bloc party got any songs?

might check the bunnies and white stripes later
avoid the rest watch bond on the other side

Re: glasto so far

i had to laugh when Emily Eavis said the weather was nothing a pair of wellies couldn't sort out, then it cut to someone using an outboard motor to get around - great to see the section on Peelie - #salutes#

Re: glasto so far

someone is on RIGHT NOW and theyre a bit bland.

I've had a running commentary from a DiSer - lots of water, boats and cows?

Re: glasto so far

who? Doves? they're mostly dire- there was one shot of a guy in the crowd clearly too stoned to know just what the hell was going on - it's nice to see that all the water in the world can't wash the drugs out of the place...

Re: glasto so far

oh I saw him too! I love it when the really bored/stoned people happen to also be the really tall ones, whom the camera cannot hide, no matter what!

Re: glasto so far

I'm in my tent at the moment using my lap top. Man, am I wet...! I see the BBC have kept their eye on the matter.

You should see it. There are police here. There were loads of wankers battling for a pair of wellies from the shop.

My pal and I found a mobile ( :D ) floating in the river!!!... unfortunately it was fucked... ah well!

Just about to watch J + M, after the schmillers have fucked off.

I hope my battery doesn't run out!

Re: glasto so far

Is anyone watching the White Stripes, they are poor at the moment.

Re: glasto so far

The White Stripes were pants.

Everyone seemed to be sitting around waiting for them to play 7 nation army, and they insisted on playing overly long protentious stuff presumably from their new album.

I think Jack is halfway through his 13th guitar solo.

I don't quite get why they've got such a huge following.

Re: glasto so far

quite enjoyed the stripes
how'd he do that on/off thing with his guitar?
did he invent that?
they just showed MIA
that was awful,like a kind of mumbling i'm gonna do r n b
for me school poetry project innit? rubbish

Re: glasto so far

I thought he would use a on/off switch, like morello, greenwood and bellamy but i think he just played it as stacato as fuck to get that effect, that's what it looked like anyway.
But no, he didn't invent that.

Re: glasto so far

Did you register that username just to answer this post? ;-)

Re: glasto so far

Actually, White Stripes did get better after I posted that last comment, some good guitar bits, Ball And Biscuit sounded good.

Re: glasto so far

haha was that during Babyshambles, he didn't notice camera was on him..or still about Doves..

Re: glasto so far

collected thoughts:

christ. i thought i couldn't hate nigel kennedy anymore but i've been proven wrong.

nice to see bloc party's vocalist smiling for once.

oh look, a 'you are here' flag. i see what they've done there.

and finally: hahahahaha, you're all sodden and probably choking on your shitty overpriced mushrooms while i'm here with a cup of tea and some malt loaf. thus, i win.

Re: glasto so far

best flag/banner i've seen at a festival said 'i love myself', considering it was a young kid who came up with it. still doesn't beat the 'i kill cats t-shirt' i spotted at reading once.

does it ever seem to anyone that jack white looks like he's going to kill meg if she fucks up - the way he keeps looking over as if to say 'bitch, don't ruin the ending of this song'. s'all dressed up as are they brother/sister or lovers - no really its a torvill and dean relationship, maybe

Re: glasto so far

last year at t in the park, someone had a huge stick with a pigeon on the end of it.

Re: glasto so far

was that back at the campfire? pigeon on toast for breakfast?

Re: glasto so far

no it was during pj harvey and the pixies.
pigeons like music too.

Re: glasto so far

fair point, i suppose i'd never considered the pigeons before. i thought music was more the domain of magpies

Re: glasto so far

bloc party were ok in parts but shambolic in parts, could be the sound i guess... bleh

Re: glasto so far

Not that anyone's going to admit it, but the Killers were fucking brilliant.

Re: glasto so far

im not gonna argue ... of all the six bands they seemed to show last night the killers and bloc party were probably the most entertaining.

the pixie character in bloc party seemed to have guitar trouble during every song except the pioneers but it didnt damage the performance at all.

anyone else notice that they showed the same songs from the same sets all bloody night - doves, babyshambles, killers over and over ... come on bbc theres tons of bands on this weekend try and show some more of them!

Re: glasto so far

I can't remeber how many times I saw the sets from Royksopp and The Killers. Too many.

Re: glasto so far

Anyone see K.T. Tunstall's BBC2 live set? She really impressed me, especially as she was experiencing technical difficulties left, right and centre. I wasn't a fan before but I might get the album on that performance.

Re: glasto so far

Fuck me- I just saw the pictures of Glasto in newspaper - all the tents in the family area are submerged in about a foot of water from pitching up near a river, and someone woke up "floating" on their blow-up lilo. Plus the typical pictures of the mud-lovers. I'm actually glad I didn't go now, for me that would ruin alot of the fun and festival atmosphere.

Re: glasto so far

likewise- one of the pics is my normal pitch, which makes me almost thankful that i'm sos close to poverty that i couldn't afford to go.

Re: glasto so far

I'm quite shocked. Every act I've seen (that I quite like) have been excellent. Interpol were brill, despite Banks' weak voice. And surprisingly, I thought Keane were great. I know they're fat and uncool bla bla bla, but they did an amazing set.

Re: glasto so far

They showed Somebody Told Me 4 times by the end of the first night

Re: glasto so far

And last night I got home about 1 ish and went on the interactive bit to look at who I could see and on three of the four channels it was Razorlight.

On another note, I enjoyed New Order's set.

Re: glasto so far

The Kasabian singer looked like Obi Wan Kenobi in the new Star Wars.

Re: glasto so far

Tom Meighan? My brother said the exact same thing!
