Pretty godawful album cover (especially as the first album has a great cover):

But still, just over a month away, very good etc.

I sort of like it in a horrific way
but yeah the first one was genuinely VERY cool...
ah well, you know the music will be so good
my eyes!
i hope i won't be crying out "my ears!", though. i'm very excited about this - the first album was absolutely magical.
is anyone else completely
underwhelmed by the stuff they've heard off it so far?
Yes
Islands will never be Unicorns, no matter how much I want them to be. :(
Has anyone heard that Clues band Alden Penner is meant to be in?
hmmmm
I think that the unicorns would probably have ended up sounding like islands anyway... and I love return to the sea, pretty much on a par with who will cut our hair...
naaaaah
naaaaaaaaaah
but it's better than 2014
No
Islands are like Unicorns transported back to the 1970s and given ritalin. 'Return To The Sea' was still good (in places) but its just not anywhere near as magical. It feels so 'proper', you know. One of the best things about The Unicorns was that they were so incredibly amazing whilst still feeling like they were possibly just one big joke.
hmmmmmmmmmm
I think all of return to the sea is good, marrying the fun oddities of the unicorns to a more, as you say, proper sound... and i think the unicorns wouldn't have pulled off a second 'erm is it a joke?' album so they would've gone in an islands direction.
ps good as
i didn't say i thought that return to the sea was as good as cut our hair, but i do like it as much. SOunds weird, but makes sense
no chance
Alden & Nick together made great music, Nick without Alden is not that great.....Alden without Nick is much better, however he's not the rockstar that Nick is.
^ well, this really
despite my positivity about islands, i too realise they'll never be the unicorns. still fun to listen to anyway.
last i heard, alden penner was going to do a solo record or something? but, he actually seems to have kept his profile rather low.
no?
I really like it.... nothing seems to be quite be return to the sea though, which worries me.
no
though, i've only heard the two songs on their myspace page so far.
'the arm' has an ennio morricone spaghetti western theme feel to it and 'creeper' makes me think of 'thriller', for some reason. both of these are obviously good points.
thats horrid
it looks like an ad for juice
Can't wait for this
Their first one was brilliant and The Arm and Creeper are as good as anything of it, if not better!
looks
like a tattoo on miami ink
:D
hahaha
It could be rather great
I need some more islands to listen to.
Plus they might be rocking out more, something the music world needs.
As much as I looove Beirut, people need to stop ripping them off.
Im venting, ignore me!
What happened to
the other off-shoot band from the Unicorns? I think they were called Clues and there was a sampler MP3 on Pitchfork ages ago, I quite liked the sound of it, hmmmm....
I didn't imagine it
