I might interview XX Teens next week. This would be my first step into the world of music journalism, What do I do?

ask them

what they have done with milly

Just

do some research so you don't get caught lacking. I like to ask about the past of the band, where they are now and what they have planned for the future.

With a band like XX Teens it's slightly easier as there is a limited amount of things you can talk about meaning you shouldn't miss anything important.

Ask them if they hold any grudges against Xerox :)

Don't make a joke about not putting their name into Google

because everyone does it and it's not true, you get pages and pages about the band.

I think they've changed some members recently, so you might have to be wary about 'past' questions, and supposedly they're hard work. Ask them when exactly they're doing an album, as they've put even more singles out than Blood Red Shoes.

I might get to interview BRS

today. I'm just gonna ask them about the album a bit, and other stuff that comes to mind on the coach journey to London.

Yeah,

past, present and future should cover it.

Ask the one

Who looks like a young Jack Nicholson (TO ME!) if he can do you an impression. Easy Rider days.

Haha

I know what you mean.

Research

ask specific questions that the band can relate too, don't repeat the same questions they've faced before.

well... good luck

I've interviewed them twice. The first time was for artrocker, they told me bunch of entertaining lies, which was OK. Sadly I don't have a copy of it any more in order to be able to give you any pointers off it. The second one I did was for playlouder... I don't even have words to describe it. They sneered at all my questions, be they sensible or far fetched, they didn't want to answer anything.

This is it...

Bear in mind that I don't necessarily now agree with everything I wrote in that.

Advice then... Don't ask anything to lofty or highbrow or 'out-there'. Don't ask them about their opinions on any other current bands. Like everyone else has said, its probably best to go for something pretty basic.

Well thank you.

Now I'm nervous.

But!

They have changed half of their line up, so maybe some of the new chaps will be nicer.

One idea might be just to have 2/3 of the band to do the interview rather than all of them? Do make sure there's absolutely nothing to distract them, ie. friends/girlfriends/industry folk etc. Location is important.

Im reliably informed

by a music journo pal of mine ('John') that one of the guitarists is a complete and utter cock that orchestrates feuds. Approach with caution.
p.s. Ask them why their last single was so fucking awful!

hint for the OP

Don't talk about the "new" single as though it represents a new direction. They've been performing it live for years.

*excuse IT

.

Do you mean "How to reduce your chances of becoming a terror victim" ?

I think it's great!
I do quite like them though, so I guess that could help.

that song gave me the impression

that they'd essentially given up on music and were all about videos. and to be fair the video was very good. But they could have made more effort with the music, yes.

They do get very narky in interviews if you say anything thats remotely critical - they see it as you not getting it and being a philistine.

from that playlouder thing

they seem like gigantic cunts.

offer them coke

video them ramming it up their filthy little nostrils.

make millions. :)

Haha

You might be on to something.
