:)
nah, seriously, it's not good. i've been the subject of it, and indulged a little at points. it's probably the biggest negative about the internet.
why do you feel sick?
most people won't have seen. craigfoley is maybe stalking you now though.
on a side note, if i was yes_, i would constantly be referring to you by your full name when speaking to other people, like "my friend James Brown did that the other day"
THAT was annoying.
and ya i've seen the name tinklebox a few times..hrm.....
i don't know! how has he passed me by? i will have to do more detective work today i guess. geez. detective strawberry's biggest day yet!
As I recall, that was down to your bank and HM government. I mean, it's not as if I went down to the Foreign Office and sold you out for tax breaks, right. I mean... that's completely ridiculous... and no-one can ever prove I did anyway...
Well, I was watching a lot of Sex and the City at the time and in some estrogen-crazed fever, came to believe that you weren't being emotionally available enough for me. So obviously something had to be done.
do you mean going through photos? or do you mean hassling someone? are you one of these?
* Rejected stalkers: pursue their victims in order to reverse, correct, or avenge a rejection (e.g. divorce, separation, termination).
* Resentful stalkers: pursue a vendetta because of a sense of grievance against the victims - motivated mainly by the desire to frighten and distress the victim.
* Intimacy seekers: The intimacy seeker seeks to establish an intimate, loving relationship with their victim. To them, the victim is a long sought-after soul mate, and they were 'meant' to be together.
* Incompetent suitor: despite poor social or courting skills, they have a fixation, or in some cases a sense of entitlement to an intimate relationship with those who have attracted their amorous interest. Their victims are most often already in a dating relationship with someone else.
* Predatory stalker: spy on the victim in order to prepare and plan an attack - usually sexual – on the victim.
I saw her in a seminar one day; I saw her name on the register and out of curiosity looked her up on Facebook. A few days later in the library I saw her and introduced myself - thanks to the brief look at her "about me" section I knew which topics to avoid controversy about and which stuff she'd find interesting.
I didn't really think I had a chance with her, as I'd got so used to every girl for the past year I'd been interested in already having a boyfriend I'd just assumed she had one too. So it was much to my surprise we were going out less than a week later.
All thanks to Facebook stalking!
(And I told her this about a month later. She laughed, nervously...)
to being internet stalked is when someone from here found me on facebook because i had started a thread about facebook stalking. so i don't think that counts :(
i was internet stalked by someone on myspace once! it was totally scary. he would message me and tell me what i was wearing that day and saying how pretty i looked.. ARGH! i figured out who he was eventually but we have never met and i hope it stays that way!
seems like a semi-legitimate form of stalking, because you can just look at peoples music tastes. If they include links to other things then they're clearly asking you to look at them.
Facebook stalking is fairly gross though. Obsessively sifting through profiles..urgh.
when I stalk someone on Facebook (it does happen quite frequently) it's always someone I do actually know and have added and all, so it's more like spying on them, like I read their wall posts and stuff to find out what's going on.
don't do it again!!
:)
nah, seriously, it's not good. i've been the subject of it, and indulged a little at points. it's probably the biggest negative about the internet.
why do you feel sick?
i dont know..i guess i just feel like it's intrusive
i mean, if we're putting info of ourselves up we should expect such things, but at the same time...
yeah i guess.
it's worse when people are super secretive though. makes me wonder what they have to hide...
i got internet stalked today
ps: WHY HAVEN'T YOU RETURNED MY PM?
how did you know you were internet stalked??
also, i haven't written you back because you can't know the secret!!!
it's not my rule, it's theirs!
i can't break a promise!
but i asked you specifically?
can't you pm to say no?
i know cause i'm clever and figured it out. and they said as much. but it wasn't actual creepy internet stalking really. just a tiny google.
i already said no twice though!!!
oh alley, haha
i mean, why can't you just say
no, it's not that person?
because it might be it might not!
aaaaaaah, just ask them dont' ask me!
YOU WILL NOT BREAK ME!!!!
(please dont hate me now..!!)
Oh, I totally hate you.
Whatever happened to our North American solidarity?
(PS: I don't hate you.)
(PPS: Does this mean I was right?)
i love how you threw the whole
North American solidarity thing at me, ahaha.

most people won't have seen. craigfoley is maybe stalking you now though.
on a side note, if i was yes_, i would constantly be referring to you by your full name when speaking to other people, like "my friend James Brown did that the other day"

the feeling wears off eventually
i'm a lost case, it's like i'm addicted.
...
Apologise to me and we'll call it quits.
I don't know why you're stalking me anyway, it's not like I'm avoiding you!
and how exactly are you NOT avoiding me?
you're in another country for godssake!
...
As I recall, that was down to your bank and HM government. I mean, it's not as if I went down to the Foreign Office and sold you out for tax breaks, right. I mean... that's completely ridiculous... and no-one can ever prove I did anyway...
is this because i'm not METAL enough for you?
...
Well, I was watching a lot of Sex and the City at the time and in some estrogen-crazed fever, came to believe that you weren't being emotionally available enough for me. So obviously something had to be done.
Not that... I did anything... yeah?
what counts as internet stalking?
i wondered this
do you mean going through photos? or do you mean hassling someone? are you one of these?

i could be an
incompetent suitor, though theres plenty of cross-over potential with the intimacy seekers
um none of those..
it was more just stalking someone to become friends. reading that list makes me feel much better haha, at least i'm not any of those
the term incompetent suitor
is amusing me.
:D
At least Intimacy Seeker has a soft edge, but imagine the police branded you, not only a weirdo stalker, but, objectively, an "Incompetent Suitor"
I like the three eventualities of the rejected stalker's approach too.
paging Tarhunt
My boyfriend still doesn't know the half of
all the stuff I learned about him through reading back dated LJ posts.
If someone admits to internet stalking you the day after you met
Does that mean you have a chance?
a chance at what?
sexing them up!
it could..but the could have just been
"friend stalking" like i was doing. so then no.
oh well, i live in hope
Actually, i doubt many people friend stalk.
so there's hope for you!!!
My last gf

I think I was internet stalked today.

:D
hehe no, though i bet i know who WAS stalking you!
i bet it was alley! trying to figure you out!!!
:O!!
NEVER! :D
facebook anyone?
.
i'm really good at internet stalking!
but it's awful when you read stuff that you don't want to read.. this happened to me last week and i'm still horrified by it :(
the closest i have ever come
to being internet stalked is when someone from here found me on facebook because i had started a thread about facebook stalking. so i don't think that counts :(
:)

ok see

Spying is fine!
Stalking has far more sinister connotations. Sort of implys that you don't know this person but that you're going to obsessively pursue them.
Watching semi-friends is perfectly acceptable!
