2008-04-12 - I have some sad news to announce to all of you. IT will be closing down on Sunday. We hope to rise from the ashes like a fiery phoenix some day in the future but for the time being our run of free hosting has come to an end. It has been a great ride and I have had so much fun doing this. I will miss this and think back with fond memories. Drink a tall glass of cold beer and say goodbye to your good friend drewcifer.

OBVIOUSLY
people should pay for what they listen to and support artists, but indietorrents was a pretty great resource for things you couldn't hope to buy, like limited releases, cd-rs and bootlegs. So it is a bit of a shame, much as i agree with your basic point

i've noticed...
loads of blogs have been closed down recently. the most hilarious one was the guy who decided to make his invite only and you had to make a paypal donation to get an invite. as soon as everyone bought up all the invites he never posted another track again. he probarly went on holiday!

waffles is everything under one roof, whilst with indietorrents you can browse and find new music by reading descriptions/ratings, which waffles is way too big to do with.

...the site may only be down for a few days. The main guy is leaving his job (where the server is located), so instead of free hosting, he now needs to pay $$$ to keep the site up.
Upon hearing this, he had $1500 in donations within the first couple of hours.
Hopefully thats got it covered for a while longer :)
