In Guy Garvey's radio show last night he admitted to having accidentally taken a lyric from somone's else's song. He also said that a major-selling female solo artist nicked some of his. Do you know who it was and do you know of any other glaring examples of nicked lyrics?

Bjork - 'Crying'

"There's no-one here/and people everywhere"

Did QOTSA pinch it deliberately for use in 'Better Living Through Chemistry'...?

Yes

but they credited her for it in the sleeve notes..

i wonder whose lyrics guy garvey stole

/who stole his lyrics?

He stole [accidentally!] from 'bloodorange'

by Howie Gelb and the line was, 'kiss me like your final meal'

Blink 182

knicked that bit from nirvana Come as you are.

I took my time...i hurried up...the choice was mine....etc

Stuff like that

is more of a homage than a case of theft though, surely?

Hmmm.

i think they're just a bit shit to be honest. there lyrics have never been spectacular.

Limp Bizkit stole an Eve 6 lyric many moons ago.

Something like "put my tender heart in a blender"

Found out today that

the line "Tender is the night" from Tender by Blur is nicked from Ode to a Nightingale by John Keats... Not really the same thing I know but that's the best I've got.
