So I'm about half way through my second listen to The Midnight Organ Fight. I haven't had an album grab me immediately like this since I don't know when. Hopefully it will continue to get better with each listen.

Is anyone else enjoying this album as much as me? I'm considering going to see them tomorrow night at 229, what are they like live?

Right, back to work/listening.

I saw them live recently....

and as I had heard they were like twilight sad I wasn't expecting much but they were really good live.
I sat next to their keys player en route to SxSW, very nice chap indeed.
I have yet to get the album.

You're right, the album is fantastic.

I saw them briefly at Connect last year and they were very, very good - that was the first time I'd heard them.

Recently I went to see them at King Tuts last Saturday. They were supporting Make Model and absolutely stole the show. A relatively short set but it was one of thee best sets I've seen from anyone recently.

Definitely go to the gig. You will not regret it. You will love me forever if I've convinced you to go.

Have you got their album of demos? There are some amazing chooooooons on it.

Ok, you've convinced me, I'll go!

It's only a fiver so hardly a gamble.

I don't have their demos or even their first album, will try to track them down!

The first album is just a collection of demos

Tracks you will love:

*Greys
*Be Less Rude
*Square 9

All amazing live.

/\ /\

Yep I agree with these choices, less rude and greys in particular are absolute quality

I'd add behave to that as well

I really like the first album...

The Rabbits

are phenomenal. really tuneful songs and live they pull it off. good to hear the word is spreading!

the first song off midnight, the modern leper, is a classic - love it.

missed the free show at mono last night but playing oran mor soon and the hive in edinburgh, cant wait

The Mono gig

was really, really good. Albeit it, pretty packed. But I guess that's what happens when you put on a free show. Grant sang some lines from The Twilight Sad's That Summer at the very end of Keep Yourself Warm. Which was nice.

I was there, and yes, it was ace.

Especially Grant going mental on the drums at the end.

If anyone fancies hearing them live and chatting on my radio show, I think it was 28/01/08 they did a session, fresh back from Paris and almost didn't make it.

Yeah

Grant's a bit of a beast on the drums. But a loveable beast. Meant to say it was actually Scott that sang some Twilight Sad. My bad.

What did you think of Jocky? I really wasnt sure about him to start with but a lot of his lyrics were pretty funny.

Catch them in Cardiff on Weds the 30th of April

I can't wait to hear the new album, I'm gonna buy one off them if they have any on tour...

they didnt have any

records at the album launch last night

most disappointing

Im Going to get a lot of flack for this...

now I do like the album but...

am I the only who keeps hearing a U2 similarity leeking through?

Yes, you are the only one.

Scuttle along squire!

just wanna say

...if you buy digitally from fatcat site it's cheaper than i-tunes.

Watch this space for 2 new promo vids very soon.

EGGS!

physical > digital

:)

no!

my boss has said the same thing several times today! ahahah.

Boring.

Just like the Twilight Sad.

You can't be srs, Shirley!

The Twilight Sad are a fantastic band, as are Frightened Rabbit. Both of them are anything but boring, particularly live.

I am completely serious!

I saw FR earlier in the year (or maybe late last, i can't remember), and it was just boring, sluggish and messy. It went absolutely nowhere.

Both bands try to be epic and fail miserably.

i bought this album today

and it's absolutely brilliant, it does grab you fantastically, great tunes. fantastic fantastic. am considering toddling off to see them play London on the 28th

you could

see them tonight...

Yup

They're great.

Utterly brilliant band

The Midnight Organ flight is a stunning piece of work, and i'm pretty sure come the end of the year it'll be there or there abouts my album of the year list.

and yeah just to echo others, live they're simply ace as well

I WAS SO PISSED OFF

When they cancelled their Farringdon show. Midnight Organ Fight is brilliant. Can't recomend it enough.

I am going to buy the album

Very soon only a couple of things bother me!!

I don't like the "Bursting into tears" type singing it can annoy you after a while.

Also Head's roll every time I hear the start of the Song for some reason I am just waiting for

"IF I LAY HERE"

Am I talking Crap and should sit down wit the album and give it a proper listen??
Thou they were very good when the supported The Twilight Sad last year

don't be pissed off

see them tonight at 229, opposite great portland street tube...

They'd better be good

Just bought the album on the recommendation of this thread.

If it's Proclaimers meets the Levellers I'll be coming after you all with a rusty scythe.

Crikey

Sure this isn't Bell X1 trying for another stab at success under a different name?

Not bad, but perhaps less meaty than I was hoping.

WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW!

I've been listening to this record all day, and it's nothing short of brilliant. Definitely the strongest record i've heard this year.
