and I bought a large Reese's Cups milkshake. The girl behind the counter was really cute, she gave me a double portion of Reese's for no added cost.
I also got given an I*Heart* Shakeaway badge....amazing.
Has anyone else had an awesome Shakeaway experience lately?
i had a less-than-awesome shakeaway experience at christmas
legend cafe had shut down. :(
it was way too cold for open-air milkshakes, so i'll have to wait til the next time i visit my dad.
oh and legend was fairly low on hot girls
and fairly high on amorous gay waiters. i lose.
Oh, I LOVED Legends.
I couldn't believe it when it shut down. The guy who ran it retired though.
The one upside is that it's been bought by the people who own Tapas Plus who have now massively expanded their (totally ace) restaurant.
Post-hangover breakfasts there were so good and the Dimebar/Malteser cake was delicious too.
Norwegian Wood has shut now too, I need to find a new cafe!
oh in a way that makes me happy
i'm glad that if it closed down it was due to retirement not failure. i spent many evenings in there risking diabetic coma drinking malteser / after eight / creme egg milkshakes before I was old enough to get served in bars.
my friend
works in the guilford one.
he looks like simon amstell.
thats not an experience.
happy days,
:D:D:D:D:D
the last time i went near a shakeaway was in bath. i was with james (heartbrokenstar), jo(scarecrow), jasmine(pearson) and gareth(myfirstmine). we talked about how christopher (alcxxk) once spent about seven pounds on a milkshake in shakeaway then it was really horrible but he drank it anyway. we didn't buy a milkshake. no i don't have friends outside of the internet.

I probably know him
I've spent way too long in there.
i've never heard of this before
however a quick trip to their website has made me pine for a milkshake
They're good, only in the South so far
.....they started in BOURNEMOUTH!!!!
:D
oh, Bournemouth?
*loses interest*
and what do you mean, "only in the South"
i live in London, for chrissakes!
London, you say?
Is that near Guildford?
dunno
is Guildford near Islington?
The is one in Kingston I think
and possibly Croydon too. None central though :/. Was one of the few good things about living in Southampton.
Yeah,
Croydon and Kingston both have shakeaway. I used to buy loads when I worked in Croydon! I used to know the managers of both stores, come to think of it. Flatshared with the Kingston manager, in fact(not because I went to Shakeaway so often). He left and retrained in I.T. though. True story.
not much use for me when i live in east london
and when i move, i'm probably moving to north east london!
oh, and :(
i forgot to add the :(
Dont move to North East London
I'm there at the minute and thinking of moving to east London.
The solution is
a houseswap. Maybe.

There are several such places in Oxford, including Moo-Moo's (though I've never been).

Yep, Shakeaway in Oxford too
Calories schmalories, just exercise lots and you can eat/drink anything!
When exactly did the milkshake business explode?
I left Bristol five years ago when it was most definitely a milkshake free zone, only to return last August to find that every other shop was now called Shakin'-Something. Amazing.
Shakeaway is excellent as it proves that (non existent but passionately argued for) veganism *and* a sweet tooth are not mutually exclusive attributes after all. Hooray! Shakeaway also introduced me to the mind blowingly orgasmic concept of the Fry's Orange Cream milkshake. Would never have thought of that one myself. Again, amazing.
i really don't get it
these little enterprises always seem like they're doing amazing business from what seems like just offering to blend stuff for you for 3 quid a pop.
You can start a franchise if you can
lay your hands on 70,000!
Maybe not the best time right now, credit crunch has put paid to banks loaning money and if unemployment starts to rocket, people will feel less inclined to buy expensive milkshakes.
Or more inclined
Whatever
comfort food FTW!!!
Shakeaway is better in theory than in practice
I went there numerous times whilst in Bath yet it always disappointed me. They were always way too scrimpy on the flavourings meaning most of their milkshakes just tasted like vanilla with a vague hint of whatever it was that you chose. It's pretty damn expensive too, especially if you wanted to actually be able to taste something so had numerous fillings.
I just had the milkshakes at Ben's Cookies in the end as they were cheaper and far, far better.
I reckon Bath were just
stingy. I never had that problem in the branches I went to. After Eight Mint was always my favourite, though in the depths of winter a hot Mars Bar was exactly the sugar and fat loaded treat I needed.
There's an odd milkshake shop in Wimbledon now, next to the station. It's called Tinseltown and I've never been in because they always have stupidly loud music on, but every time I walk past on the way to work I think "mmm, milkshake...".
There was
a Shakeaway in Reading, but in all my time there I NEVER managed to track it down. It would infuriate me to see all these folk wandering around slurping tasty milkshakes and even after asking directions I still could not find it.
I left Reading after giving up.
