Benicassim line-up

It must have the weakest festival headliners I've seen in years. And there's strong rumours that the biggest draw - Leonard Cohen - has pulled out.
It used to be one of Europe's best festivals. Anyone know what's happened to it this year? Does it have new organisers or anything like that?

it's had its day
shame

well

sigur ros
my bloody valentine
death cab for cutie
justice
micah p hinson
etc...

seem okay to me so far. hoping there are more bands i really wanna see but it's not bad...

Now....

There are definitely some good bands. I'm excited about those you've mentioned plus Sigur Ros and The National, but at the top end, there's very little.

If Cohen has pulled out, My Bloody Valentine, Mika and Gnarls Barkley are the names on the marquee. Pretty lousy by anyone's standards. Considering the line-ups have been so strong in previous years, I wondered if something behind the scenes had changed.

i totally disagree

has some great stuff on the bill so far, and can only get better (i would say that though as i am intending to go)

To be clear

I'm only talking about headliners - there is a decent selection of interesting acts further down the bill.

But if you can find three weaker headline acts than MBV (who I love), Gnarls Barkley and Mika at any festival with a capacity of circa-30,000 in Europe, I'll be surprised.

I know they haven't confirmed all the acts yet, but surely common sense says you confirm at least one biggie early on to convince people to choose your festival.

Leonard Cohen's pulled out??

Now I don't feel so bad about not going.

getting better

The Raconteurs, Battles, Black Lips, Nada Surf and Glimmers were all added today.

Need to be patient, I 'spose.
