Current record sounded great live (even without all the samples and subtlety of the recorded version). The banter was super bas you'd expect. Then the new "love" record stuff sounded like a wonderful departure. And if that wasn't enough, we got a Katie Mellua cover and a Monkey Calypso song.
She went into the last 'track' (or whatever we should call it), seemed to be getting all emotional and then walked off the stage before it finished.
She didn't look all that happy on the tube on the way home either.
Aidan superb, a true showman, wonderful use of acetate disc backing tracks which he played on a plastic record player. And merchandise included a singing beer bottle opener. Class.
Oh, and he complemented me on my cap when we were both having a wee in the gents before the show. Shucks.
pink briefs with his face on the front, emblazoned with the immortal legend 'KISS MY BEARD'.
fucking stupendous.
the gig was a bit good too.
[when i say 'a bit good', what i mean is 'fucking hell, every second of it was perfect, it wasn't arab strap, it was aidan moffat and he was magnificent', or something along those lines.]
I wasn't too sure how he would approach this live, but the way he had rearranged the songs off 'I Can Hear Your Heart' with such simplicity gave the album a whole new interpretation. Plus a snide remark about the use of backing tapes. The stuff he did with Alun Woodward on guitar was not as raw as the record, but equally spellbinding. And finishing with 'All The Love You Need' is the perfect way to send your audience home with a thought for the day ...
Was really really impressed by Moffat as I did previously have visions of him passing out drunkenly after rambling and pressing a few keys on a keyboard. He was extremely funny and sounded great too.
What the hell was george pringle about though? Car crash gig viewing. She fell off stage I think and then cried. Mighty awkward. Her lyrics are also a little bit like a GCSE poetry brainstorm in front of an episode of skins. Ho hum.
if you can get hold of that calypso song anywhere? Got something stuck in my had that seems to resemble it from memory, but in reality probably bears little relation to it?
I just wasn't impressed with the gig I am sorry to say. I ordered myself beforehand not to sulk cos it wasn't the best of Arab Strap but beyond Aidan's healthy sexual appetite there wasn't much of appeal. The implement he was using was too loud and on occasion it was like he could not turn it off. He is a great story teller and has a sensational accent but it just didn't hit enough of the right notes for me. Sorry.
misogynist
i might go
He's a misogynist?
She hates women so much she's named herself after a bloke. And a crisp.
I'm going
And looking forward to it. It'll be like seeing half of Arab Strap live again, which would make it 50% of the best thing ever
:'''(
i hate you all
Me is going
update
i'm going
so
i've been wondering.
Whatever happened to Sandy and Danny....
Well I enjoyed that immensely

I love Mr Moffat...
What's this about George Pringle crying??
I've no idea?
I listened to her stuff on myspace and opted for a few danger pints up Kilburn High St instead.
Hard to argue with a meal and pint of Brains Bitter for £5...
Even if the average punter in the pub looked like a serial rapist
Dunno

Lyrical and musical genius
