hey,
my band has been playing in london a bit recently, played bull and gate, hope and anchor, club fandango and somewhere else i've forgotten...anyway, the bills have been shit, loads of mismatched bands, divided crowds, etc... same old problems. Was wondering if there are any promoters/nights that put on out of town bands but manage to at least partially avoid the above problems? i think there is only so long we can rely on our (30ish) london turn out to keep getting gigs there, and we certainly wont be picking up any news fans at the sort of nights we've been playing. advice? cheers.
sorry i'm no use
but i'll talk to you about zz top over there <---- if you like?
deal...
see you in a minute, just finishing this sandwhich...;)
Well... what's yer band sound like?
And we'll try and recommend you some people...
sorry, yeah bit of an error..
get a fair few decemberists comparisons, seven piece, with violin, banjo, mandolin... other mentions, pogues, NMH, Frames, Arcade Fire
obviously a fair bit shitter than all of the above.
Ah!
Interesting music!
Sorry, you're fucked.
There are
but it of course depends on what kind of music you make/how good you are.
I know it isn't a JAG but a Myspace link'd be helpful...
as long as you promise not to banter me to death ;)
www.myspace.com/mrbones and the dreamers...
seasick and dancing song pt2 are the two extremes of the sound...
thanks for the help...
Link doesn't work with the spaces
Comes up with a guy called Ryan who likes punky metally stuff.
www.myspace.com/mrbonesandthedreamers does.
Can't really listen 'cos I'm at work but I heard about 10 seconds of one song and concluded I'd definitely book you (were it not for the fact that I'm booked up 'til July and then am not promoting nights for the forseeable future) so I imagine others will for sure...
we always front load the first 10 seconds :)
after that it is all one long guitar solo...cheers for taking the time.
I'll listen properly later too...
I haven't even listened to it
but from the description it sounds like the kind of thing I'd like to put on given half a chance...
that rather depends on me being allowed to put on more gigs though....
sounds like you've commited some sort of promoter crime..
did you book a john cage cover band? ;)
Nah, I've got my first attempt at putting a gig on coming up...
If it goes well, I might be allowed to do more, in which case I may well be in touch...
wow, that's really good stuff
i don't promote anything though, sorry.
but i really like your sound.
you mention mis-matched bills. just out of interest, what sort of bands have you been sharing the bill with at your shows?
Thanks, glad you like it..
we have been sharing with sub libertines nonsense, wank blues nonsense and oasis/kasabian style stuff... oh, and a couple of metal bands ( who were better to be honest)
cheeky bump....
what's the party line here on bumping anyway? how long until i become a twat?
don't do it again
I think it's fine so long as people have responded the las ttime you've bumped.
If you bump twice in a row and then get no further replies then it's probably time to let it go...
Exactly !
I'm the only one allowed to do that or none of my threads would have more than 2 replies.
Good music btw.
With the strange feeling to have heard this voice before...
cheers mate,
glad you like it, my voice may be familiar because it sounds like a crying child? 'virtually unlistenable' so i'm told..;)
sounds good to me
try getting in touch with tim at the brixton windmill or carl at the fox in lewisham, maybe someone at new x inn....all the wrong side of the river for media etc. but they always put 'real' bills together and seem to get crowds that stay for all the bands.
glad you like,
will look into that, not to bothered about media, just want to play to a crowd who may be into us, willing to take a shit reception, but not off idiots... anything i should mention?
