I am obsessed with the weez...
Worship them.
But lets face it that 30 second clip of pork and beans was the best bit of pork and beans.
The verses with its lyrics and the all those little effects are pretty awful.
The chorus does rock....
bit its a bit like listening to beverly hills but with a great chorus...
Thoughts?
The chorus
is massive.
That is all.
you are fucked in the head
;)
(that makes it ok doesnt it?)
honestly!?
you really like it all!?
yeah
I havent really paid attention to the lyrics but the way it sung, and the general feeling, it seems like they have got their spark back
6.8 out of 10
so I agree to an extent, but at least it SOUNDS like Weezer.
I've high hopes for the album.
Not great
But still pretty good, and much better than you could possibly have hoped for, given recent form
well its
better that make believe but not maladroits singles.
Weezer:
I really like the first 2 albums, but since then they've been peddling watered down versions of the same old shit for the last 10 years or so, with ever diminishing returns.
It's strange how they're still almost universally loved on here, whereas, umm, let's say Oasis for example, are critiscised by nearly everyone (deservedly) for doing the exact samething. Any thoughts?
Pinkerton is better than anything
Oasis have ever done, though that is a bit apples and pears.
Rivers Cuomo isn't as much of a cunt as either Gallagher?
It's not cool...
to dislike Weezer...
^^
Pretty much that.
Perhaps (or perhaps not)
But that's beside the point.
No it isn't
I think you'll find they are both valid reasons.
Having at least 2 great albums despite later shit > having no great albums
I vote DanielKelly
Definitely Maybe is a great album IMO.
As is the Blue album. Anyway, whether it was or whether it wasn't, I don't think it's valid to be doing pretty much the same thing 14 years later in either case. I don't understand the appeal of it.
I think the difference is
that Definitely Maybe was a massive album that pretty much everyone owned, the Blue album and Pinkerton were cult successes that are LOVED obsessively by those who own them.
I think for that reason Weezer fans are more loyal.
I dunno, just a thought
I think it's just because
Weezer's past glories are of vastly superior quality to Oasis'
it's pretty good
not a patch on 'we are all on drugs' though.
WE ARE ALL ON DRUGS, YEAHHHH...
I like the verse
its fun without trying too hard in the beverly hills manner.
BUT THE LYRICS
SUCK SOOOOOOOO HARD!
Terrible lyrics,
lumpy chorus... I don't see what all the fuss is about. It's no Keep Fishin' and that's not saying a whole lot.
I'm not a fan
I used to be in awe of their musicianship now they are the king of bland chord sequences.....
yeah it is a bit like
a good beverley hills, still its at least pretty damn catchy if not a bit like weezer trying to be weezer
It is good fun
but not amazing. The Chorus is nice.
No, it's rubbish
People will be sick of it within a week. If it had been released by any other band, everyone would be saying "What is this sub-Weezer gash?!"
starting subjective sentences
with Lets Be Honest makes me want to die a little bit.
awwww
bless you.
That must suck for you
I quite like it
Admittedly, I've only heard it once, but it seems reasonably catchy - which is more than could've been hoped for, considering the bilge on Make Believe.
It's good!
Catchy and not in a "THAT'S WHERE I WANNA BE!" sorta way.
8/10
Weezer always
release their album's crappiest song first (Sweater Song, El Scorcho, Hash Pipe, Beverly Hills) so I'm not worried. Red Album will still be quality.
Point made well.
Except Hash Pipe. Introduced me to Weezer, gotta give props for that.
three of those songs
are absolutely brilliant though!
I quite like it.
oh god
that's just... horrible. Can they just give up now, please? Ick.
downhill.
ever since the blue album. pinkerton's overrated, as is everything after that. blue album was perfect for the moment. this band epitomizes the sophomore (and beyond) slump.
New song sounds absoutely terrible
They will never make another good record. The sooner people realise this the better.
why?
I firmly believe Weezer still have the potential to make another great record.
They're just stuck.
Everything they do now just sounds so lazy and the same. It's boring.
Blue and Pinkerton were amazing, but the rest is average at best.
I still maintain Green is better than Blue.
