How great are they?
The Golden Band is my favourite album by them. It's one of those albums that you don't have to be in a certain 'mood' to listen to.
It's instantly familiar, but I can still get 'lost' in it. I guess they are a bit like Yo La Tengo, but at their most melancholic (and therefore, best).
What's your favourite album by them? And have you seen them live? I haven't :(
haha, anal-og
i know
the censoring thing is SO fucking stupid. ANAL, ANAL, ANAL, ANAL.
Oh, poor besmirched American Analog set. I love you, anyway :(
aas
are boss.
Love them
I think my favourite album is Know By Heart, and I really like the remixed version of The Postman from Updates.
great band
saw them at the barfly in camden five years or so ago. very solid, very quiet.
main amanset man andrew kenny is a member of ola podrida, playing explosions atp next month.
the only
one I have is Set Free. It's really nice if you're in the right mood, usually on a mellow summer evening or something.
^ i was about to write an almost identical post to this one
its also good for uni work
They're amazing
I listened to Know By Heart on the way to work yesterday. And the day before that. I miss them.
i have muchos muchos love for them
i think my favourite is probably Know By Heart. Such a lovely, simple, lo-fi album that never fails to cheer me up.
i have one album
by them, 'Promise of Love' and it's really really rather amazing. those first 3 songs are just excellent.
Is 'Set Free' any good? I've got 'Born on the Cusp' from that album and it sounds pretty cool. I keep meaning to get more into them, but always keep forgetting!!
yeah set free is quite strong
born on the cusp and first of four are my highlights, but if you only have promise of love i would suggest getting Know By Heart next.
also
first four surely? Hrd to Find is my favourite off that album...
cool...
I shall investigate Know By Heart...!
how does it sound? i wasn't really into the lo-fi guitary stuff on PoL, but loved the more organ/ vibe ones.
sorry, that sounded really vague and crap, but my brain isn't working quite right today...!
hehe, it is a little vague
but it is a nice mix of guitars, organ and xylophone/glockenspiel/whatever it is they use. Certainly there are more straight up pop songs on it that some of the more long winded stuff like 'Modern Drummer' on promise of love. i'm sure you will like it.
cool!
they use a vibraphone i think...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vibraphone
i will have a listen tonight anyway and FINALLY get more into them!! haha.
Favourite album
is 'The Fun Of Watching Fireworks', closely followed by 'Know By Heart'.
Saw them live twice, once at the Arts Cafe (RIP) and once at 93 Feet East. Both times really good.
My fav is
Promise of Love.
Great great band.
