I can't believe there was another fucking article in the Guardian today about Jay-Z playing Glastonbury.

I know

its ridiculous. This is still one of the funniest things I've read in ages

http://tinyurl.com/3t6cjr

What an incredible collection of idiocy.

It's painful reading.

It's all getting a bit boring now, but I genuinely had no idea there was so much ignorance and bad feeling about rap simmering under the surface. I thought it had lost its power to shock years ago, but loads of people seem really pissed off about it. Twats.

That thread is just an arsehole magnet

Do most people really agree with Noel Gallagher and Wrightylew (who I noticed chucking his two-penneth in on page 10)?

If so, :(

I'm glad that lot aren't going!

I haven't read all 100+ pages, but the comments seem to break down into:

"I don't like Jay-Z and/or hip hop generally so I'm not going". Erm there are hundreds of artists playing - he's only 1 of them.

"It was muddy last year and I got my new shoes wet and caught a cold". News Headlines in recent years have almost entirely consisted of "Glastonbury mudbath" so why did they go if they can't hack it?

"Mr Eavis really upset me because he said I was too old". A festival that only attracts middle aged people isn't going to last very long, of course they have to bring back younger people whose energy and enthusiasm help create the glasto spirit. Last year there WERE too many miserable old boogers moaning all the time! (I'm 40, an old booger true, but I do make an effort to enjoy myself).

"It's too commercial now, the cash points and mobile masts were the final straw". Ok, I go to a festival to get away from commercialism, but these particular things don't bother me. The important things for me are being able to bring your own food/booze, giving profits to good causes and so on. You won't get harrowing Oxfam/Greenpeace/Wateraid films between bands at V festival!

"The retailers rip every one off" Well in 2005 after weeks of goregous sunshine before, few people had brought wellies, so the stalls were doing roaring trade. At one point only 1 stall had any left, they could have charged what they wanted, but only charged £10. I don't call that profiteering.

"I'm going to reading because Metallica are playing". Erm if you are a metal head then why would you even think about going to Glastonbury?

"I've never been but ..." well shut the f**k up then!

With all those wet blankets staying at home to watch it on BBC3 it promises to be a vintage year!

^ thank you

for saying what i can no longer be bothered to.

apparently his best album is the blueprint

so i downloaded it and had a little listen.

it was shit.
