what will

blood red shoes think?

hahaha

...

it means projections could be back? yeah?

hmm, stresses of touring too much me thinks.

i think they played three hundreds of gigs

in a relatively short period? no wonder, eh?

sad faces, though...

i'm still waiting for Steve

to deliver me the master of the Projections album ;)

let's be honest...

they were a bit fucking shit now.

yes

the album is really good, but i preferred the less-pop-more-grunge thing they had in the earlier days.

Well said, I am sick of agreeing throughh

gritted teeth that they are fucking brilliant.

THEY AREN'T REALLY, ARE THEY?

i was genuinely hoping they were shitting us :(

seems so

laura-mary did seem pretty pissed and bitter and steve was quite torn up. :(

they didn't seem that different from whenever i've saw them before, to be honest

and considering they're pretty much solidly booked for the next few months and their album just came out, it just seems like a really bad time to announce it. I honestly think it was a joke (or at least i hope so).

it's not like they'll be the first band to split before a tour though

and some bands have split up before their first album ever comes out.

but i agree with you. all the other times i've seen them, laura-mary always came across as if she didn't really want to be there.

looking at their website...

about twenty dates coming up and their album was only released this week....

i know, starting off a tour in paris tomorrow, right?

i mean, laura-mary may just be having her period or something... but saying "this is our last gig ever. ever." about ten times in one gig, then just walking off stage in the middle of a song, leaving your sole other band mate looking like a twat to finish off the song himself seems a bit final to me.

i thought that was a bit funny

but maybe that was just... dramatic effect?

mebbez...

is it sad that i'm really glad i was the first DiSer to make a brs "OMG SPLIT" thread?

srsly?

pretty shocking stuff considering how much they are touring and having just released an album.

i try

don't try

DO

don't do

waitasec

so, basically, you're saying they announced they were splitting up during their gig tonight?
this one: http://bloodredshoes.freeforums.org/glasgow-abc2-18th-april-t533.html
?

yes

unless my friend and i hallucinated the entire thing.

BRS

People on MySpace were saying how great a gig it was! No mention of any split!

..

It seems like quite a shame, i was reading an article in NME yesterday which talked about how close they were. I spent some tiem afterwards thinking how unknown it is to meet someone who sincerely does know you inside out and holds the same values and ideas for the future.

.. this burst my bubble of an optimistic future!

^ this

I got that issue today. I reckon it's all one big DiS joke...

Or maybe...

... they read the album review: http://www.drownedinsound.com/release/view/13045

If so, sorry!

no, they did say they were splitting up

but it was totally a joke. this thread got me all paranoid.

laura-mary drummed and steve played guitar for the encore. that was 'pretty special'.

guess we'll just have to wait and see if they have split or haven't

they might work their shit out, they might not.

as i said "who knows?".

someone must know!

GET ON IT!

We need to know. :[

they're probably discussing it right now

or getting really wasted and drowning their sorrows. we'll probably find out whether they cancel their future gigs tomorrow, since a european tour begins then...

...

so basically poptimusgrime = massive joker?

what would even be the point in me doing this if it was for a joke?

blood red shoes are one of my favourite bands. i wouldn't make a thread like this if i didn't suspect it to be true.

see above

"but it was totally a joke. this thread got me all paranoid.

laura-mary drummed and steve played guitar for the encore. that was 'pretty special'."

but it actually wasn't really anything special

they were just playing 'surf song', which is a b-side on their latest single.

i'm not saying they've split up for a joke. i just made this thread because, from what i saw at that gig, it looked pretty much like they'd split. but, y'know, they might not. i doubt Omgz1one knows as much as i do - unless, of course, she had just spoken to the band who said to her "it was all a joke".

fair enough

but surely, if you were both watching the same gig, she knows just as much (or little) as you do?

i see your point

but she seems pretty adamant that it was a joke. whereas i am less adamant about the whole thing.

i think i should've spent more time writing on this thread, anyway, but i couldn't be fucked relaying the whole story again.

well

I'm sure it'll all become clear in the morning. or on Monday. but until then...

yes

i said this somewhere on the page. i really hope it isn't a total jip

i know

i was being sarcastic...

look, i have faith in them that they're decnt enough people not to announce a break-up like that, okay? And it generally just seemed like a wry joke, okay?

yup, a shame...

seeing the arctic monkeys form a new band or something on jools holland but seeing blood red shoes 'split' bursts my bubble similar. will almost certainly not be going to the Children's Festival the day before Field Day For Grown-Ups now (I'm not even sure if they were confirmed, just, the line up is awful...).

oh yeah!

definitely would be ace...

Rubbish

People have left myspace comments saying how much they enjoyed the Glasgow gig - no mention of splitting

I prefer this one, far more eloquent.

ER

I prefer this one, far more eloquent than the one i just posted

is how that should have read

abandon!

i was there

i heard it too. laura mary said 'this might be our last ever gig' about half way through the set. then she said near the end that it was their 'last ever gig' as well. i was confused. it didn't sound like a joke, but maybe they've just got a very dry sense of humour that i don't get.

yeah

so dry that steve even took to wandering around the venue with a bottle of wine, looking to be at the point of tears.

i can't believe some people are thinking i've made this up and it's all a joke. i'd be angry if i wasn't so apathetic

i bloody hope this isn't true

they've finally got the album out and i feel they have so much more to give once they do the festivals :(

If this was news

then Kev Kharas would be all over it like a rash, yeah? He doesn't sleep, isn't it.

true dat

Kev Kharas has a nose for news like Daniella Westbrook did for cocaine. until she destroyed her septum, that is.

Wolf! Wolf!

oops

LMC just seemed a wee bit grumpy and was trying to get the crowd going.

also somebody on their message board aid they got a text from steve saying t's not true

Triple Post

The gig itself was very good but as has been said Laura-Mary did kind of storm off during the last song but I'm sure other people have said they've seen this happen before so probably just part of the show.

Tut

what a moody bitch.

I so hope

they do split. It's not their relationship (massive egos), it's more that artistically they have no future beyond one album. One. Trick. Pony.

Here in Brighton we have countless more interesting bands.

yeah

what she needs is a damn good (censored). A trip over my knee would sort her out...

urgh

^ this

die

^ & that

i liked BRS for a short while

then realised their album was one of the most one dimensional efforts of recent times. then laura/steve/their/management ignored all my requests for an interview at a local gig. then i read this thread. </smug>

^ what a prick

ignored. yeah right.

thanks

most bands make the effort to get back to me when i contact them a month prior.

they might have been on the road

hence no reply. The album isn't that bad though the production is a bit dull/dark

maybe so

but then I wouldn'tve thought a one trick pony like BRS could afford to ignore a press opportunity. arf

bitter, much?

just get over it. and yourself. who was the interview for?

doesn't matter much

*groan*

oh,

i'm being flippant, lighten up.

this is a joke, shirley

i saw them play on monday, it didnt seem like they were about to split.

WE HAVE NOT SPLIT

sorry to disappoint the unbelievers here but we've not split up.

anyone who knows us knows that we're the kind of people who are pretty straight talking, we say what we feel when we feel it. we've been on tour for what feels like an eternity, and that coupled with the volume of work we have to do alongside playing (we're still making all the decisions about every release, artwork, every live advert or single ad, laura still designs 100% of the artwork, i'm still mixing all the recordings, we book our own hotels, write our own bulletins and mailouts, do a LOT of interviews) - basically we have a lot on. we are stressed. and we are utterly losing our minds because that's coupled with the fact we spend 24 hours a day in each other pockets which isn't that healthy.

so what i'm saying is, that's how we felt by the end of friday. it's not how we felt in the morning. this was not a publicity stunt, or a joke, or anything of the sort, it was us being 100% open about how we felt. then the next day we felt a bit silly as we sorted our shit out (tho we're still losing the plot). we're genuinely sorry for confusing anyone. we have every intention of making a lot more music, starting with the new EP we're just finishing writing and want to release later in the year.

on another note, the level of sexist bullshit on this board really saddens me. i can handle criticism and the inevitable "oh they were shit anyways" lines, but we're not living in the fucking dark ages. stuff about being a "moody bitch" or "she needs a damn good (censored)" (i don't even want to imagine what was originally written) is way out of line and as human beings you should know better. seriously it's fucking disgusting and it doesn't just happen on here it's other sites too.

steven x

thanks for clearing this up

and agreed on all the sexist shit. it's pretty much what i dislike most about this board.

yep

i think some people here need to grow the fuck up.

glad BRS are still on

hi steve!

That

was bizarre.

Glad to hear you aren't splitting up

and thanks for signing my train ticket in Glasgow! You seem like really nice people, the sexist stuff on here is totally out of order.

agreed

I still have your towel

I washed it, and soaked it in nice softener

It's folded neatly in the wardrobe

I like your band

bye!

apologies..

my last post was only meant as a joke, which quite possibly didn't translate as well on the boards as it did in my slightly immature thought processes. The (censored) bit was the way i typed it, i don't think DIS actually censors anything on here...

I actually quite like the band so glad there is no split.

So, um, apologies again!

You can make sexist jokes too if you want?

Well, you can be sexist. AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

yey!

I love your band

and I was sad when I read this thread. But it's ok now. and I'm fed up of all the sexist jibes you get on here it's so fucking pathetic and it makes me angry.

here begins the:

Is that REALLY Steve?
How can we prove it?
are we all sexist dicks?
Are Blood Red Shoes the new Aphex Twin?
