Tommorrow I need something to raise me stumbling and blinking blearily from my bed at about 6am. I use my Ipod through little speakers as an alarm clock and for the last year of so I have used Arcade Fire's 'Wake Up'.

I am now so thoroughly sick of this song soundtracking my wakening that I want to stab myself in the eyes every time I hear those first few chords.

So... any thoughts? I was going to go for something off Calculating Infinity but I'm not sure if I want to be ripped into consciousness quite that rudely..

I used to wake up to music...

but it never really worked. I tried spiky, aggresive stuff (like London Calling) for a while, but even that failed to rouse me. The only way forward is The Today Programme on loud. Nothing like a bit of John Humphries first thing in the morning. Belligerent welshmen are the way to go.

Either that, or Hoppipolla by Sigur Ros. That could be nice.

.....

i just use a nokia alarm

but for you........reckoner by radiohead

Ash

The first track off the album 1977 by Ash (forgot the name momentarily) starts with the sound of Darth Vader's Tie Fighter then gets louder. That should stiryou into life

No way!

I couldn't bear to listen to a few bars of that song and then turn it off to get in the shower. I'd have to listen to the whole thing. And then listen to it again.

my bloody valentine

only shallow.

Go with this

Roots Manuva - Witness (One Hope)

The Bass will ensure that you properly wake up :-)

I use Good Day Sunshine by the Beatles

I hate that song so so so much now.

ultimate waking up album = RAW POWER

in fact, ultimate album = RAW POWER

Listen to the Love version

of Because by the Beatles. It's just Lennon's vocal and has these foresty bird sounds. Actually the whole album is pretty cool.

pluto by bjork

is not a heathly means of starting the day. trust me.

will to death - john frusciante

the whole album works so well!

You want 'Staring at The Sun' - TV On The Radio

The soothing oohs at the start wake you up gently then the driving bass kicks in propelling you out of bed

oo

good choice sir

make sure

its on the other side of the room so you have to get up. i end up just using snooze for two hours. what a waste

Another Planet

by Pendulum would have you out of bed in no time and possibly leaping for the window.

body renting

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U5W43wFreRU

even starts with an alarm clock

I used to use

Rammstein. Nothing like the sound of German industrial metal to get me out of bed to turn it off so that it didn't wake the rest of my house/neighbours/street.

Nowadays I manage to get up as soon as I hear my CD player whirring in to life.

NEU! - Hallogallo

punkt schluss

Good Morning

By The Beatles from Sgt. Pepper - it even starts with a rooster crowing. Particularly good if you've had enough of Good Day Sunshine.

The Ash song was Lose Control - came up 2nd on the iPod after I made the post - how often does that happen

...

I'm From Barcelona - Oversleeping is mine.

obvious one?

boo radleys - wake up

i use

Low-Sunflower.

something to ease me out of sleep, ya gibbons.
