great performances, amazing use of music and editing and cinematography, etc... but the story is so heavy-handed and lacking anything even resembling nuance or subtlety - it's a very well made Hallmark tv movie
with nutty girls who think that just because you've seen it, it makes you an eligible choice for husband and make a point of this in the first conversation you ever have, about eight minutes in.
Just a shame it puts a thirty quid dent in your wallet. One of those slightly poncy but highly beautiful films that tend to fall by the wayside, a bit like The Assassination Of Jesse James et al.
I'd say the characters are wholly believable in the context of the film (as you've said, a melodrama of sorts) but just wouldn't be convincing outside of it, as people
I found the characters hard to relate to or to be fascinated or horrified by. The mother was the most interesting character, in a kind of freakish way.
The ending really irritated me! It was like one of those crappy drugs lessons you get at school when you're 12.
Sheesh! It's not so bad, really - I just dislike it.
All my friends kept telling me how amazing Requiem For A Dream is, but I don't see it myself. It's good, but it's not amazing, and I certainly wouldn't feel obliged to watch it again.
Still have the mental scars and unnecessarily graphic imagery burnt onto my retina when I sleep at night. I watched it with a girl I really fancied at the time.
So yeah... real nice 'date' that one... unsurprisingly we just stayed friends
It is incredible!
love it so much, but you HAVE to watch it with a home cinema system to get the full effect, usualy its optional but with this film its a neccesity.
.
so it feels as though that scary fridge is actually in my room? haha
Literally makes u jump
but the soundtrack warrants it as does the dissorientating nature of the film, the end moments really spin u out if u have the right system for it.
i think it seriously overrated
great performances, amazing use of music and editing and cinematography, etc... but the story is so heavy-handed and lacking anything even resembling nuance or subtlety - it's a very well made Hallmark tv movie
this
entirely.
^yup
Ever seen
Pi?
I enjoyed Pi
I can't remember the ending though. I think it was confusing
He drills his brain out
and then he's fine!
i prefered Pi actually
though it's not to say RfaD is bad. Great film, if a little full on in places.
i really didn't like it
thought it was very MTV. style over substance, just crap really.
didnt enjoy this film
especially not the ending
i associate this film

not to generalise.
ASS TO ASS
it's not wrong to find that bit slightly hot right?
I really like this film
and I'm aware that the handling of drugs in it couldn't be less subtle and the film has its flaws. I just like it in spite of them
It's good...
... but it's no Fountain =)
^ for deff!
I liked it lots when I saw it , but I can rarely handle rewatching it. The Fountain is a fucking masterpiece though. Woefully underrated. Watch it!
Looks lovely on the Blu-Ray
Just a shame it puts a thirty quid dent in your wallet. One of those slightly poncy but highly beautiful films that tend to fall by the wayside, a bit like The Assassination Of Jesse James et al.
words can't express how much I dislike this film
Horrid MTV visuals, no believable (in the context of the film) characters, heavy-handed message...
I guess it's meant to be a modern melodrama?
Strange
I'd say the characters are wholly believable in the context of the film (as you've said, a melodrama of sorts) but just wouldn't be convincing outside of it, as people
yeah, I suppose that didn't make much sense

Pi >>> Requiem For A Dream
All my friends kept telling me how amazing Requiem For A Dream is, but I don't see it myself. It's good, but it's not amazing, and I certainly wouldn't feel obliged to watch it again.
I concur with Pi being better
it's one of my favourite films. RfaD is good, but very heavy.
I fucking hate this flick

I'm aware of it's faults
but I like it.
