The answer to this thread is Crooked Rain.

I'm not even a Pavement fan but that will be the answer.

that's an album

not a song?

Oh, ok.

The thread starter didn't specify album or song, if I was a Pavement fan I would know by the title post. :)

The Hexx

Ta.

What's Crooked Rain?

Silence Kid!

Just an incredible song to open an album with, or maybe Best Friend's Arm, that one always brings a smile to my face.

Grounded

and Rattled By The Rush are my faves.
Wowee Zowee doesn't get nearly enough love imho.

Grounded

Totally

Yep

or maybe Zurich is Stained. Although Shady lane has the best lyrics of virtually any song ever written.

yes!^

GOLD SOUNDZ

is like the best song ever ever, but i like starlings of the slipstream too, and also here is lovely, and love is lies is ace, and also box elder is amazing. i could continue...

All of these are amazing

Actually they're all amazing, all of them.

Father to a Sister of Thought though. That's one of my top ones. Starling in the Slipstream too. Preston School of Industry (the song)? Oh, you can't just have one!

i know.

it's so hard to choose. i doubt i could even pick a top 10 without being upset/confused/getting a headache. i love no life singed her as well. and carrot rope. i choose them all!

I can't limit myself to ten

to do so would absolutely destroy my afternoon at work in attempting!

Cut yr hair

perfume v
shady lane
stereo
carrot rope
summer babe
range life
gold soundz

all massive tunes

Trigger Cut

Cut your hair was the first Pavement song I remember.........

back when I was about 14 and someone was playing it at school, so I'll always love that. In the early-mid 90s Surrey boarding schools were all indie as fuck.

Shady Lane is possibly my favourite though, it's just perfect really.

Until it does that rubbish outro

I really hate that bit, it stops me ever saying it. Shady Lane that is.

Cut Your Hair was my 'first' too, off Napster. Crikey.

I just started singing Embassy Row at the printer, people think I'm weird now.

thats ace that bit

you mean the chilled out instrumental? thats ace

cut your hair

carrot rope
range life
best friend's arm
stereo
grave architecture

harness your hopes.
thats right even their b-sides kicked ass.

did anyone hear the live BBC session when they played that. cant remember if it was lamaq or peel, good no the less.

Frontwards

AT&T
Here
Gold Soundz

Kris Kraft

as song by Bob

5. AT & T

4. Shady Lane
3. Gold Soundz
2. Filmore Jive
1. In the Mouth a Desert

Loretta's Scars

...was always my favourite - it's so lazy and just lollops along. But then I heard Gold Soundz today again, and it's great too... Life is fraught with difficult descisions like these.

noone mentioned

elevate me later... love that song

but for me, its gold soundz.... just the definition of what music should sound like...maybe. probably not

but really good.

You never stipulated song or album

1: Grounded
2: Here
3: In The Mouth A Desert
4: Give it a Day
5: Half a fucking Canyon

Song title was implied

when he gave song titles as favourites and not albums titles

anyone see them live?

I saw them I think three times at Reading, they were almost the highlight of the day at reading 92 (and just found the footage on youtube last night, wow) just when trigger cut was breaking through, they were so much better live in some cases, hence:

fight this generation (live, reading 94)
grounded (live, reading 94)
strings of nashville (b-side)
ed aimes (peel sesh)
oh who am I trying to kid!? Gold Soundz, Stereo, Trigger Cut, all the hits...

Carrot Rope -

- for the dance in the video! Galoshes and claps a go-go! Brill.
