On Thursday May 1st, the fantastic Canadian duo Crystal Castles come to Kingston to play New Slang at The Works for the first time! It's going to be an incredible show, and by all accounts they are a great live band. Spazzy, thrashy electro beeps coupled with some awesome yelpy vocals from brilliant frontwoman Alice Glass...this is a show you won't wanna be missing! This bands are seriously brilliant!
Their debut album is available now at Banquet Records, and is certainly worth your cash, and the new single 'Courtship Dating' came out this week too! It's amazing!
This is what NME said about it:
"Crystal Castles make dance music for sociopaths. They’re ’80s like Patrick Bateman and the Blade Runner replicants. They’re the cocktail made with strychnine and broken glass that you drink anyway, and ‘Courtship Dating’ is the best piece of humanity-loathing cyborg pop since The Knife’s ‘Silent Shout’."
In support is James Yuill. Folk meets electro here, and this guy is tipped for big things this year. To quote Time Out...
"Even though we're now all thoroughly au fait with the idea of beats and digital bleeps mixing it with indie songcraft, Yuill has pushed it further, pressing into service both something of Justice's bolshy bottom end and Yazoo's plinky melodicism by way of Hot Chip."
It's £5 with a flyer or a print out of the New Slang mailout or in advance, or £6 otherwise.
You can get advance tickets from Banquet Records in person, or online here:
