I am not a fan. I liked You Look Good At The Dancefloor at first and still do but then two albums later I have slowly realised they aren't that good, it's just middle of the road Indie Rock yet they are proclaimed as geniuses - why? I know I am about to come in from a shoeing from their fans who will probably put a fatwah out on me but am I the only one who doesn't like them or get them?

never liked them.

never will.

Probably more towards the former

Favourite Worst Nightmare is the better album, though.

Not just you

I don't get the fuss either. I don't exactly "hate" them, and I'm sure the fans have good reason to like them but they're just not for me.

Having said that, I did think "When The Sun Goes Down" was pretty crap.

phew!

maybe I am not alone in the world then!

i'm not a major fan

but it's really really obvious why they're so popular

more indifferent really

i've never been that fust, really. some of their songs seem catchy if i hear them, but i don't ever remember the names or how they go afterwards.

i just don't care about them enough to come to a decision.

"fust"?

what the fuck is "fust"?

i think i meant "fussed", but i really don't care.

I think its dutch

for my spelling sucks ass. Your like my ex hehe she loves a good spelling correction.

cocks I can't read

I thought u posted on mine just then.

haha

i just hope "my ex...loves a good spelling correction." wasn't some sort of euphemism...

ooo yes please sir

can I have that with Mayo please?

I've never herd a full album of theres

and from what I've herd from the radio, TV and all that stuff. I am right in not bothering. I never got what the fuss was about. I don't hate them though I put them in the pile marked Meh.....

I generally dislike them

they're competent at what they do it's just they always seem to have this smug sarcastic observational thing in pretty much all their songs and his voice annoys me - i know he's refusing to change his accent and it sells their whole 'ordinary kids from northern britain' thing but it just isnt pleasant or interesting to listen to and it carries this weird air of knowing superioirty.

I know somebody

who once said he had to like them because he came from the same area.

That just strikes me as rather silly.

I like the second album.

I'm not a massive, massive fan but I do certainly think they're clearly a cut above most of their contemporaries making similar music...

meh

I like some of their songs. Dislike some of their songs.

I wasn't around on DiS

when they first kinda hit the scene, does anyone remember what sort of reaction if any they got? I've never seen them as a like DiS kinda band or am I wrong?

Interesting

and good thinking I could have just looked for the reveiw hehe. Maybe they didn't need a score cos monkeys cant count.

yes, it is

especially after they gave them a pretty fair review too...

it is indeed a fair reveiw

cuts thru the hype nicely. I think I prefer ricky Gervais to the Arctic Monkeys. but why did the mention of Tom Vek make me giggle? Where is Ton Vek?

I like em

but i'm not going to issue a fatwah on you!

I think they are are definitely a level up from your average indie band and I think they get criticised a lot for the bands who have jumped on their bandwagon.

I just remember the buzz surrounding them at the time they came out and that 'indie' had got cool.

Now with this endless procession of shit following them, I wish they'd never got cool and when people asked me who my favourite bands are they reply like they used to...'who'?

they'd probably say

"that's a stupid name for a band"

FUCKING HATE

not them,
but all of the piece of shit 16 year old carbon copy bands they have influenced...

i love em

they're pushing things forward, but very slowly. they've got their influences and are carving something respectable and new. no one else is doing that with similar influences.

Musically

they don't do much for me but lyrically they're pretty awesome.
