Would you prefer to work three long days or five normal days?

I was thinking about this last night.

Basically if you had the option (assuming you work roughly 37 1/2 hours a week) of either working a standard 5 day 9 - 5, 30 minutes for lunch week or only working Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday but starting really early, ending really late and working 12 1/2 hours each day, which would you choose?

I think I'd definitely prefer the latter as I tend to waste mornings and evenings before work but if I had 4 full days I'd make much better use of them. My only concern'd be not being able to do anything on those three days. That said, if I could change what the the 3 days I worked each week were to suit my needs, I would definitely go for the latter option.

id go between

monday-thursday

8-7

used to love that when i did it.

That does sound great.

What kind of work were you doing?

Work the three long days

and take one of them off sick. God bless the public sector.

three long days, definitely

though i don't reckon i'd get as much done...

9-5

i wrote a bit essay but i pressed abandon reply by accident :( 9-5 for me

Only if I could choose the days.

I wouldn't want to work Monday to Wednesday if it intefered with Champions League games. If I could work 6am to 6:30pm then probably.

3 long days fo sure

that would be ace. I currently work 8-5 Mon-Thurs and 8-1 on a Fri. Half day Fris are awesome.

I do three long days

7:30 - 20:30.

I'm not allowed to do all three in a row thoug and have to work at least one full weekend a month and one half weekend month. Oh and one set of nights once every couple of months.

Three long days, definitely

At the moment I'm doing five long days as it is, a situation which sucks huge donkey cock.

I work four days

10 til 8, Monday to Thursday. I love my three day weekends, and when you're in work, an hour or two doesnt make a huge difference anyway. Does get really tiring at times though.

i'd like to be on flexi-time

where i can choose to work three long days in a week if i so wish

fortunately, the jobs i'll be applying for will offer this opportunity! wootles.

Bastard!

What kind of jobs are they?

My shifts and hours change every week.

So some weeks I do a couple of ten or ten hour stints and some weeks I'll do a few evenings or mornings or something.

I don't really have a preferance to be honest, as long as there is variety. I need to have change all the time or else I get really bored.

where i {sometimes} work

you can do long shifts, 9am-9pm... commonly known as a "suicide"

three full days

my mother does this at the moment. think about it - if you work two weeks worth of shifts across six consecutive days, you can have a whole week free without using any of your annual leave! it's genius.

Rolling shifts all the way

I used to do two 12hr day shifts, then two 12hr night shifts, and then get four days off - it takes a bit of getting used to but once you hit your stride it's ace.

Plus, taking 4 days holiday meant 12 days off work... man i miss that!
