They're such sneaky little shits. A few years back I rang them and got my late-payment charges reversed on account of them moving my payment date forward to catch me off-guard.
At the same time I pointed out that I couldn't be paying the bills until I was paid so they'd have to charge me in the first week of the month for last month's bill.
This month they've tried it on again and made the payment date this Monday, meaning I had to pay March's bill by 8th April and April's bill by 28th April - not right and not good.
Looks like I'll have to ring them after the fact to get the charge repaid as it's too late now.
The moral of the story: always check your credit card companies aren't trying to fuck you over like this.

it was freakin' moneysavingexpert which sent me to barclaycard (with an affiliate link too, i noticed).
anyway, i hate them. got a card with them just for a balance transfer and set up a direct debit payment straight away. six weeks later they're charging me £12 for a 'late payment' even though i set up direct debit SIX (6) WEEKS previously and they were all like 'omg it takes up to eight weeks for that to be set up' and i was all like 'omg you must be joking you little shitehawk'. anyway they're getting no more money from me and i'm never going to use the card.

10 working days to register a direct debt...Barclaycard are awful
1) I made a payment, they didn't apply it to my account, nor did they return it to my bank account. It took one month, many complaint phone calls and one complaint letter for them to return the money so I could then pay them.
2) I owed them £x, I called to pay it off and the telephone told me that I owed them this £x, so I went get through to a person and said 'I want to pay off £x'. Person says 'I can't, because we don't know how much you owe us'!?!

My story
I fell sick, and was unable to work, thus unable to pay off my CC debts.
At the time I had around 13k of debts, 6k with Barclaycard, and 7k with MBNA.
Both froze my interest, and accepted reduced payments. Every year MBNA would send a letter saying "Has your situation changed? If so then let us know", every six months Barclaycard would send a letter saying "We are putting the interest back on your account". I would phone MBNA, say that my situation hasn't changed, and they would carry on as things were. I would phone Barclaycard, and would face some snotty nosed arsehole. I was once told "This is a bank, not a charity".
Eventually, MBNA accepted full and final settlements on my account. I paid approximately 4.5k back to them in total. Barclaycard refused to budge...... even sending me interest AFTER my final penny was paid off, as it was paid after the deadline.
Barclaycard are the biggest fucks in finance.

You spent more money then you had.
Whilst MBNA might have been nice about it and Barclaycard slightly rude, ultimately it was you who signed up. You agreed to terms and conditions. You must have decided not to take out sick/disability cover, which will be offered with every credit card.

I was happy to pay it in full. However, when you don't have the money to pay it in full, then you would hope for some understanding. MBNA offered that. Barclaycard didn't!

As credit card companies are. My step-grandfather died of cancer not long ago and apparently my stepdad got so stressed out dealing with all the debtors that he got shingles. My stepdad is a pretty hard man so this was a shock to me. He produced certificates saying that he was dying and they were still absolute cunts throughout the whole thing.
