Very sad.

If I am anyway near as cool as him when I'm 86, I'll be a very happy octegenarian. Anyone up for tribute game of Mornington Crescent?

Totteridge & Whetstone to start.

oui

take a plane?

Pentonville Road

It's a fine move as boxing out the F, J, O and W placings draws the partner into an elliptical progression north to south don't you know

oui

quite...
one of the best...
ABANDON game...
am tott en ham..
queen to fucke...

Hang on....

...we're playing Tudor Court Rules, right? So surely someone needs to play the Dollis Hill loop now - in which case : Dollis Hill.

RIP

I saw him recently at one of the live ISIHAC shows and he was brilliant. Even played exemplary trumpet at the end which was an incredible moment.

Been listening to him on the radio since I was a kid. I'll miss him.

oui

same here, my mum is a big ISIHAC fan, have grown up with humph. is a bigggg loss, tried to make my mate go and see him, he said 'who?'. not happy. will regret this forever, poor chap...

That's very sad.

Such a shame. I suppose he had a good innings and that but radio 4 will be a sadder place without him.

wow, R.I.P indeed

he was related to my grandmother too. he was a lovely man

sad news

saw him about ten years ago, great gig. Read his autobiography a few months ago. RIP and thanks for the music/banter

Sad.

He was boss.

was that him

with radiohead at the south park gig?

He played trumpet on Life in a Glasshouse

so probably.
RIP.

OH NO

:(

Did anyone else see that Jools Holland

where Radiohead invited him and a few of his other pensioner jazz fiend crew along to play 'glasshouse'. It was superb.

Oh, and if we are still playing the tribute game - are diagonals open or reversed?

If open then Green Park
If not, christ knows...

I saw him at the Radiohead South Park gig

He was great... the best thing on the day apart from the headliners. Beck was really disappointing and Supergrass were surprisingly low-key. (Sigur Ros were OK as I remember but I only got into them afterwards). Was surprised he didn't join Radiohead for Life In A Glasshouse on the night.

RIP.
