I don't know why I felt compelled to get this, but I'm glad I did.

I only vaguely know cLOUDDEAD, 13 & God etc. So I don't know why i thought I'd like this, but oh God I do.

Just thought you'd like to know.

(Y)

i do like to know.

it's my favourite album this year so far and pretty much one of my favourite album of any year.

there is not one bad song on there and it's simply the most quotable album i've heard in a long, long time. so many great one liners.

Even though I haven't seen you in years

yours is a funeral I'd fly to from anywhere.

Yeah, pretty genius stuff.

that's one of the best

for more, look at this thread:

http://www.drownedinsound.com/articles/3174885

amazing stuff.

It is very clever

and very original but i can't help but find it a little soulless overall..

disagreed.

I thought this was about

Gail Porter.

I prefer

Elephant Eyelash's playful charm. Try that one out too.

alopecia is a better album IMO

it just flows better and also simply has better songs on it.

have you ever seen him live? i really can't wait until 4th june, i have big expectations.

I saw Why? live years and years ago

I didn't pay much attention (oops). I know that Alopecia is meant to be better, i just prefer Elephant Eyelash.

^

all of this

to Ibzo

He's incredible live

your expectations will be matched!

Really good album

it just keeps growing on me. His lyrics are brilliant and the music is so good. its up there with the Atlas Sound album for my favs of the year so far.

really, really good

although i still prefer elephant eyelash (i think i'm in the minority with that).
massively disappointed that there don't appear to be any scottish dates :(

it is good, but...

does anyone remember the Hymie's Basement record. that beats elephant and alopecia hands down.

Nah, you're just being wilfully obscure

Hymie's Basement's got some great songs on it, but overall it's got too much filler and can be a little self-indulgent.

Whereas Elephant Eyelash and Alopecia are nearly perfect.

EE just shades it for me. It means more.

hm...

there is the argument that all good music is self indulgent of the 'artist' creating it.

i prefere hymies basement, as it has more focused vocal melodies, and a wider range of instrumentation & arrangement.

dont get me wrong, i like why? i just feel that all three of their records start really well then tail off.

no big deal, but i dont think naming a project containing the same members of the band in question can be called 'wilfully obscure' ... im now going to listen to some Iannis Xenakis.

Wilfully obscure was perhaps unfair

But as for the self-indulgence, yes, of course any creative process is quite literally self-indulgent. However, I meant the self-indulgence that crops up most frequently in bad prog: showing off what you can do instead of doing what might serve the song best.

It's very much a side project, and it sounds like one: an interesting detour.

Not that Hymie's Basement is bad: I like it a lot. "21st Century Pop Song" = BRILLIANT.

fair

play

Hymie's Basement

One of my top 15-or-so albums. Better than Elephant Eyelash. I'm sure in time Alopecia will push it close.

yep

i pretty much can't stop listening to it. song for the sad assassin is so so good. wait, all of it is so so good. can't wait to see them

.

that aint no god it's just a burning bush

favourite album of the year

by a very long distance.

^ almost this ^

Certainly the one I have been coming back to the most. Can't see it not figuring in DiS's end-of-year list, highly too.

Amazing record

I've just listened to it on repeat; what a crazy fool I am.

disqualified from being album of the year

for being too good. it's just not fair on the others.

see why? in manchester

It is really good.

ExitingARM is right up there with it as well though i think.

No

^

exitingARM is very good but not as good as alopecia at all.

Alopecia > exitingARM

And I LOVE Subtle.

But they's don't got no Yoni.

Hmm, not sure...

They are both really good like i said and i've listened to them both a lot. Sick Soft Perfection is an amazing song. Each to their own i guess but i'm torn. They were both growers though.

exitingARM is boring

why? >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> subtle.

nosebleed

as in: too far North

I wish he were playing. I may travel to Manchester for it.

This album is my favourite album of '08 so far

and I'd have never heard of them if it wasn't for DiS. Thanks!

you're welcome

this album

is so hyped here, it's untrue. lyrically brilliant, but musically repetitive and tedious.

elephant eyelash is tons better.

the end.

also

sandollars ep >>>> alopecia

I just got this and it took a few plays

to click.
It now has and it's amazing alright.
'Fatalist Palmistry' is one of the best songs i've heard this year. 'The Hollows' is also amazing. Must get 'Elephant Eyelash' now....

^ this.

Dull dull dullington

The post

tunes, or album....be more specific or alternatively, don't bother posting.

Pardon?

I was replying to amadeep, as you can see from the indentations.

I love elephant eyelash, I've been left cold by alopecia.

Sorry

my mistake. Apologies!

What is the cLOUDDEAD

song, off Ten, with loads of lyrics from The Vowels Pt. 2? Caught me by surprise when I listened to it the other day...

LOVE this album.

Second only to The Bedlam In Goliath for 2008.

Are the other albums as good?

after many many many spins

It aint as ace as I first thought it was I have grown to be annoyed at Yoni's voice and flow :(

Its still wicked in small chuncks though.

I know what you mean

I can see how his voice would become a bit irritating after some heavy rotation. It seems to suit the more straight-up pop moments better than the darker, introspective stuff on the album. Very nice in small does maybe...

I rarely play it all the way thru now

but am quite happy to wack on a few tracks. It has dropped quite a few places in my mythical end of year prediction list by some way now becasue of this.

kind of prefer

sanddollars to both albums to be honest. Even though it's less songs... Got an older ep that i can't remember the name of which also seems good.
Reaching Quiet album quite entertaining too (though a bit silly.)
