Does anyone wish Mazzy Star would reform?

"So Tonight That I Might See" and Cowboy Junkies "Trininty Sessions" were my Son's lullaby music for about the first three years of his life.

I told my Wife not to buy Mazzy Star Tickets cause my friend Brian was going to get her in for free- Not! Almost divorced over that one.

But they were so amazing.

I don't care whether it's Mazzy or Inventions

I just want something new from Hope Sandoval

Only every single day.

My firstborn daughter is called Hope. Top that one.

Anyhoo she* did a rather good solo album years ago but what's she been up to since?

*Hope Sandoval that is, not my daughter.

My wife allows my love for Hope S.

and understands that I may be leaving her someday- for Hope.

Cool about your Daughter.

didn't like the solo record and don't know what's up these days.

She's done a few guest vocals since then

http://www.hopesandoval.com/ will tell you the full list. Rather tragically, I have them all.
She's also meant to be on the new Massive Attack album if it ever sees the light of day.
Other than that, disappointingly little.

yes...

yes, i do.

Yeah, that would be cool.

I did see an upcoming band called Sister (from London) play recently, who were basically ripping off Mazzy Star. I didn't mind though, they still sounded fantastic.

So are Cowboy Junkies in the same vein? Which album would you recommend?

No, not at all the same vein.

Cowboy Junkies' "Trinity Sessions" is totally soporific, that's why it made such a good lullaby record.

Cowboy Junkies are kind of a neo-depression era sit down, playing at the roadhouse, alt. country/rock outfit.

"Trinity Session" is a very cool record. It was recorded in some church using a single microphone (it was a KILLER mic) and they covered "Sweet Jane" and "Blue Moon". They are kind of Patsy Cline on heroin. "200 Miles" is a totally amazing song. You should get it.

No

They made the albums they wanted and stopped so they didn't became anymore formulaic.

It would be nice if all bands stopped rather then just chugging away to appease an ever decreasing fanbase (hello The Charlatans!).

I always think that the music I like isn't made for me, so the people who make it can do whatever the fuck they want, I just feel lucky that I've fund music that I connect to. They don't owe us anything.

So no.

But they were great and left behind some records that reflected that....

It appears that I can't spell....

Apologies...

*become anymore
*found music

blah!

good points

too bad when the well runs dry.

How amazing would it be if she fronted a hardcore

post hardcore or grindcore band. Not screaming just doing the whole wistful Hope thing with screeching cacophany of noise crashing around her.

Damn that would be great.

Hope, if you can hear us, do it!

No

It would be shit.
But I hope she'll released something new soon...

what's the best

album of theirs to invest in? I really like Fade Into You and Into Dust.

No.

I saw the at the Fleece in Bristol once and it was rather fab. But that was then..

Yeah

but as Lyle says, it'd probably be shit. 'Among My Swan' wasn't very good and the formula was starting to get tired, but the first two albums are classics. I'd prefer to see another Hope Sandoval solo album - her first was aweeeesome. I think she's pretty much a relcuse now though.
