Emergency & I
is best place to start in my opinion. Terrific album.
Change is pretty good too.

These 2 albums are easily the best. The first two have some good tracks, but aren't anywhere near as good.
Disagreed
Is Terrified is my favourite album, followed by Emergency & I then Change. Is Terrified was the most playful and the sound of a band having fun doing what they were doing. Emergency still had some of that, but they'd started trying to actively hone their songmanship at that point and there's a touch of forcedness about some of the tracks on there.
I only have
Is Terrified, but that's pretty amazing too.
Change
purely for Timebomb (Which is how i got in to them)
I love them so much it makes me wee myself thinking about it.
Start with Emergency & I
Then get Change.
The other albums are great, but the above are far more accessible.

it's immensely good.
i like change too but it's more weary.

...Is Terrified
is an almost perfect mix of the rawer stuff and the R&B-influenced later stuff.
It's probably my favourite album of theirs but The City is my favourite song of all time.

Is Terrified is the one for you.
The debut album ! has a few of fantastic tracks along that vein, but a quite a few not-so-good ones too unfortunately.

Emergency & I is incredible, Change is almost as good. Travis Morrison's lyrics are absolutely incomparable.

I haven't listened to Emergency in years for some reason. Sounds like I should also get hold of Is Terrified.
