Thoughts on Yoonited v Barca?

I can't for the life of me see why Iniesta's on the pitch and Terry Hery isn't. United's weakness at right-back and patched up centre-half partnership would've been exploited, no doubt.

CARLES

CARLES
CARLES
CARLES!

Well...

I can see Barca's intricate 5-man midpark lineup being countered by Yoonited's somewhat unique hammerhead tactics leading to an interesting match-up across the middle third. What they need is a tall fella to win some headkicks beyond the host's top picks in offence.

Oh, and i must also add:

Yaya Toure's possibly the best midfielder in the world. Absolutely phenomenal!

CAAAAARLLLEEESS

PUYOL!

shaky at the back

leaving too many large spaces where there shouldnt be any. Carrick looks ok in their half but just isnt great defensively. All in all going well though. Still need a second mind and with barca pushing further for the goal i reckon nani and ronaldo will get chances.

PUYOL!

Iniesta is having a bit of a nightmare

but he's a brilliant player. Abidal is simply confirming my belief that he's one of the most overrated full backs in world football. Yaya Toure and Messi have been excellent. Ronaldo has been anonymous and VDS's kicking has been horrific.

other times I've seen Iniesta play

he's been awesome. Looks to be having an off day.

hasn't exactly been

a classic set of games so far has it? anyone else remember when utd lost 4-0 and drew 2-2 against barca years ago and subsequently ifk gothenberg qualified at the expense of a depleted utd squad? that was exciting.

i dont understand why iniesta is playing either to be honest, abidal has a good chance against hargreaves too and i hate puyol so much its beyond belief.

I think Barca will nick one

but they are so shocking at the back, Utd will get another one as well

Thought...

"Nanny" and "Chavvy"????

he keeps saying "chavvy"

and I look up, thinking it's Ronaldo on the ball

on comes

terry henry then...anyone think he's gonna turn the game on its head?

Equaliser 10 minutes from time.

Rijkaard skips down the touchline arms aloft.

I am not sure which game was more boring.

This one or the last one?

If Nani and Ronaldo hadn't been so shit

it would have been a lot easier for United.

that was so dull

i should have done my essay.

i am so happy

i think i'd take liverpool in the final

Philip Wright-Liverpool is also happy.

He is very very much hoping we beat that disgusting team tomorrow. They can buy the league, but they CAN'T buy the European PASSION Liverpool are bulging with.

Liverpool United final.

FUCKING HELL. IMAGINE.

I'm not so hopeful though :(

realy pathetic match from barca

should have played henry from the start up front alone with messi and bojan down the wings. Eto isnt worth his boots. Man u won from a lucky but good strike from scholes. Oh well, prefer man u to barca in the final.

i'd take eto'o

at chelsea.

what

yeah we need another hugely overrated striker now Schevchenko might be fucking off back to Milan in the summer.

fuck you

sheva kept us in the title race. show some respect.

:D

we shouldnt be fighting fellow chelsea fan. *hugs*

*hug*

i'm so sorry for swearing! keep the blue flag flying high :D

yeah

by clearing off his own goal line. Sales of his Pannini sticker trebled overnight

incredible isn't it

i loved his celebration too :D

roughly

half the player he was at Mallorca, since he broke his leg.

Commentator

On the final in Moscow: "It'll be the biggest game in history between two British teams"

There was also some dirge about Munich thrown in for good measure.

Fair play to Yoonited, i can see why they chose such negative tactics, but that's everything that's

United put ten men behind the ball for the whole two legs and go through, yet Barca, who i thought were awesome tonight, and who passed the ball well and played football as it should be played for the whole two legs go out.

Yah

I feel the same way. It's lost its edge. EDGE

this

and youre truely fucked next season now erikson is gone. They'll sign rijkard when he gets the sack from barcelona and dowwwwwn man city go.

we'll never get Rijkaard

in a million years. Whoever is the Thai equivalent of Avram Grant

Mourinho, mate, Mourinho.

or maybe Martin Foyle.

Not really 10 men behind the ball in this game at all.

This was a markedly different performance to last week. Barca were pretty toothless really in the end, Van Der Sar was rarely tested. United looked much better going forward. Valdes is well dodge. Messi is a genius.

Says a lot that Barca can have more than 60% posession in both legs and score.

which is why the champions league doesn't excite me.

the most attractive teams never win it.(anomaly - barca vs arse a few years ago)

.

can't have been that awesome if they didn't score

I don't like to say it

but Rio Ferdinand had an incredible game.

True.

I also think we saw the true best player in the world. Messi, for me, is twice the player Ronaldo, Kaka or any other is. The way he turns, his close control, everything. Probably the only truly great footballer of the last decade, the other being Zidane, obviously.

not as good as joe cole though, really

safety wink?

scarily

like maradonna.

He looked like he could have upended the game on his own several times

And he's only 20. Big things to come from him.

this is bollocks

messi did nothing for the entirety of the tie. there's a vast vast difference between running ten yards and passing nicely sideways and actually creating anything.

bah!

That commentator brutalised every single pronounciation

bet he does it deliberately because he's a UKIP type.

BO JEAN you cretin not Bo jane or whatever you said. And Enrie, not HENRY. Twatfarm.

Have you never encountered

David Pleat before?!

I never really care which numpty is trying to tell me about tactics

seriously, they're all complete crap merchants. If that was David Pleat, he's currently king of the crap merchants.

But remember!

Evra is... bouncy?!

David Pleat and his borderline homoerotic co-commentary, mixed with Red Clive's OTT dramatics are comedy gold.

yossi

bennyoon

*Benyanoon

cmon

none of these is worse than BOOBAR-CHOP, who recently played against nyacastle

*Shimbomba

*shin bomber

his style of tackling.

thoughts:

Tevez played his best game for United. as did Brown, and Park, except for a couple of mistimed passes, played excellently.

wasnt too impressed with Rio. he hardly ever made a challenge (particularly highlighted with the amount of backtracking he did during Barca's main two first half challenges) and passed back to Van Der Sar far too often

tevez

just didn't stop running ALL night.
wonderful stuff.
from the perspective of a united fan, it was a tense, but worthy win, barcelona just couldn't penetrate.
tbh messi was the only one who looked like creating something for 'em.

well neither did Park or Carrick

Nani was disappointing, gave the ball away far too easily/often

Nani

he actually cannot keep the ball for love nor money, park put in faaar better balls than he did, and as for that shot? jeez.

thoughts on CL final, Moscow

united fans 4/1
Russian Police 8/11 favourites

TEVETH!

PARK
BROWN

All fantastic.

Good luck in Russia!

Which would you prefer, being done over in Roman's backyard or getting spanked by the scousers?

Well...

I would much prefer to lose to Chelsea than Liverpool, but would much prefer to beat Liverpool.

I want us to play Liverpool so badly, though unless we went 3-0 up in the first 30 minutes, and possibly even if we did, it'd be a horrible 90 mins.

Difference is

Torres actually has a second home in Rio's back pocket.

I may regret saying this, but the dippers seem mentally incapable of beating us. Even when they batter us for 89 minutes, there's always O'Shea.

a really want a liverpool man u final,

just to see if tydsley actually comes when carragher and ronaldo appear on the screen together. oh, and what do you reckon the odds are on this peice of commentary:

"its scholes, its giggs, its one nil!"

hopefully none

please keep giggs well away from the final.
i think there might be some "true english grit" from Carragher though, and a slight chance of "GEERRRARRRDDD!!!" tapping the ball softly to Van Der Sar.

predictions on mispronounciations on moscow.

moz-co
moz-cow
moss-cow
wembley

haha

i cant believe i missed that one.

:D

That's

"That magical night in Barcleona"

to you young man.

you forgot

Glasgow.

I just want the scummers to get beat, but i'm not sure who has the best chance of beating them.

Chelsea in Moscow sounds good, but Liverpool, dogshit for nearly twenty years, doing them to make it 6-2 would be amazing. Imagine if the bin dippers win it - Rafa takes over, spends hundreds of millions on wasters, makes then if anything a worse team, yet guides them to three Euro finals, winning two, that'd put him up there with the alltime great managers, weird.

17-3 to 18-5

would make it a very good year.

I don't think people have appreciated how well United have played this season

Scored the most goals in the league and conceded the fewest, played wonderful attacking football up until now, found some quality youngsters in Anderson and Nani, and bit-part players like Brown have been able to make a huge step up. Barcelona had the majority of territory and possession over the two legs, but seriously, how many clear cut chances did they actually create rather than Messi just showing off a nice box of tricks and some nice passing in triangles?

Yeh it was a rearguard action in the last twenty but any team would have retreated into their shell like that given the circumstances.

this

Nani needs to find some consistency though, and for how he has been all season Ronaldo was quite anonymous again tonight.
looking forward to seeing how Manuchao will fit in the team, he looks like a solid striker. something which i think we still need.

He's not been getting a game in Greece

So I don't think he'll be the answer.

Nani frustrates me - he's obviously going to be a class player, and sometimes is brilliant, but I have *never* seen one player give away the ball as much as he does.

I agree with all the above but...

when will people stop getting carried away with how good Ronaldo is? When it comes to the really big games it's been proved that Rooney's the man, not that portuguese tart.

half true.

rooney is the man in big games? ermm..

two things:

1) Look at United's record without Rooney. I think it's something like, missed 9 games, they've failed to win 8.
2) When does Ronaltoe do it in the really big games? hardly ever.
