I don't mean the song but the dreadful Adrian Edmondson "comedy".
There are some dreadful characters in it including the son who is supposed to be slightly edgy but just looks like he failed a Wella hairstyles commercial audition and a Chinese/Thai type character who plays the comedy Chinese man with a funny "woice".

I saw The "New" Undertones..
play at Manchester Academy for a St Patrick's celebration. It was very poor. The singer is not bad but the music was very sludgy and you could hardly discern any melody as they piled out riff after riff with their fat arms.

RE: the song
it's never really done it for me. Maybe it's the Peel mass exposure effect which has killed it, but i just don't buy the whole "perfect song" thing. It's "perfect" by deint of being very very simple, and not particularly interesting

there are so many things not to enjoy about it
the poo lyrics, the irritating delivery, the sluggish beat. But yeah, it's listenable enough on a certain level. It's not the sort of thing you'd want to hear as many times as i have, and definitely not the sort of thing you'd want to hear as many times as Peel did
