I'm listening to Space Dimentia at the minute, and I'm not confident that Muse will ever make such a confident, hard-hitting, enthralling and unique record; ever again. I thought H.A.A.R.P was quite soulless, especially compared to Hullabaloo. On another note, what bands, or artists, have made a gem when you would think they're past their peak?
I think Muse will not make an album like it.
That would be back tracking and to think they will return to it. I wish they would though, there is such great riffage on that album.
no
no they won't. This is an eternal shame. Muse circa 2000-2004 were one of the best bands going, Origin Symmetry was fantastic, Absolution was also great but really they shouldn't have pushed their limits any further than that. Now all they leave us with is a still great but much more choreographed live show and stupidly overproduced "epics". I still do like them but what with them having been the first band I truly grew up with but I've come to accept they'll never be as good as they were a few years ago.
I think
I pretty much agree with this.
yep
i remember bunking off school to get that album i was so excited about it. The Faithless album was out the same day too.
I actually really liked Megalomania and Screenager, and hoped that they'd move more in that direction for future albums. That's not to say i didn't enjoy the rest of the album, Citizen Erased is probably the best thing they've ever done.
i know a lad called Will Muse
he can eat a whole pack of polos in one go
^ more interesting then the next muse album
not nearly as epic though
Would make a more involving DVD than Haarp though.
1284
shots of the crowd during HAARP (maybe)
which annoyed me no end
really not that difficult
if you think about it
it is safe to say
that origin is there best album, the rest are excellent. and live they are very hard to beat for amazingness.......
but half the songs on black holes and revelations i wasn't to keen on, which is the first muse album where i haven't liked every song!
they just had so much passion back then, at the moment they are to engrossed in the whole crazy alien stuff and becoming the most listened to band in the world...
and yeah citizen erased is their best song. period!
Muse are a band who get chronologically worse:
Showbiz > Origin > Absolution > Blackholes
Origin was good, but only relatively so.
Whilst I agree...
I don't think Muse have released a weak album yet.
Showbiz was full of raw power and showed that they were going places.
Origin was without a doubt their best, and probably my favourite album of all time. Songs like Citizen Erased are just Bliss (see the pun there?)
Absolution was just pompous to the max, they went all out with orchestras and stuff to make it sound huge. And it did.
Black Holes, whilst definitely being the weakest, showed they could take their music in different directions and do it quite well, and showed they weren't gonna get boring.
And anyone who doesn't want to crank up the riff at the end of Knights Of Cydonia and air guitar like mad is just wrong.
Also, I've seen them live 3 times now, and each time they've been sensational. They even made the SECC sound good. Probably the best live act today.
You're right about the SECC.
Nah
they've probably gone too far up their own pompous arses to ever come back. Although I don't listen to them much, I still think that their first two albums are pretty great. Really, really can't be doing Absolution or Black Holes and Revelations though. Boring as IMO.
