#46: Le Volume Courbe

Le Volume Courbe is all about French singer Charlotte Marionneau. They released their first and only album in 2006, so it's strange to write about them as a new band. But they're playing Truck and Bestival this summer and missing them would be a crime.

That album, I Killed My Best Friend, featured members of Primal Scream and the Beta Band and captured a weird and whimsical world of heavily-accented menace. It sounds like a prototype Soko purring over the dissonant sounds of Portishead.

They're promising more new material this year and have a few dates lined up before those festivals (check their MySpace for details), but for now, here's I Killed My Best Friend:
