If Ken had managed to triumph today..........

I assume that the DiS Labour fraternity would have refrained from any gloating whatsoever.

There's absolutely no chance that they would have resorted to petty triumphalism....is there?

They probably would have.

and it would be just as annoying.

actually

as someone working towards Manchesters continuing development I'd have been slightly upset.

the devaluation of london's mayor just increases the attraction of the rest of the cities in the country.

I have a lot of time for Manchester.......

in spite of the fact that it spawned the Guardian and Simply Red.

I would

have at least gone with the neville's as my lead off line.
simply red? if mick hucknall acted anymore like a shoreditch wanker (come on, the guys a m****h) you'd have to make him an honory cockney

You may not like the guardian but other major papers that weren't / aren't london centric are a little conspicuous by their absence now, no?

This is true......

it's pity the press is so London-centric.

Boris winning

has made me feel sad for Ken.

I'm imagining him clearing out his desk, walking out of his office, getting one final look at the place he helped build...

Then falling onto his hands and knees and beating his fists into the concrete while yelling obscenities.

I'm imagining him cradling his favourite newt......

and singing along to 'All by myself' right now.

do i need to say it?

ok then!

INTERNET: SERIOUS BUSINESS

Messageboards are just people talking

and calling people out on their being obnoxious or wrong or ignorant or whatever is a pretty basic principle of human society.

.

i think the most overwhelming feeling would have been relief.

but now it's just dread

You don't feel that there is something of a massive

panic over nothing underway?

The Mayor of London really isn't that powerful, certainly not in comparison to mayors of other major cities.

Besides that, Boris

isn't THAT bad, either. At least, he might be able to keep it together enough to not do something comically idiotic... Isn't the bumblingness part of his appeal anyway?
