I'm not really an indie fan but I love Silent Alarm by Bloc Party.

Are there any other indie bands this good?
Please don't point me towards Oasis, Arctic Monkeys or The Kooks.

The Decemberists

..for me everytime

"Are there any other indie bands this good?"

Is this a serious question, I mean, do you really believe that Bloc Party are as goos as "indie" gets?

I would suggest listening to Mew. They are it for me.

*good

goos wasn't an actual word last time I checked.

So basically

you want some indie for people who don't really like indie?

try

Desert Hearts

oasis and arctic monkeys are better than bloc party

and I could make a list as long as the M1 of bands I think are better than Oasis and Arctic Monkeys.

It's a long road dude!

Yeah,

Maccabees, Good Shoes...

kubichek

How come?

They are cool cause they are from London. London!
My God man- London!!!

Londoners

are stupid. They elected an idiot.

Oh God, tell me what "Indie" is.

I thought it entailed ANY band that wasn't signed to a major lable- that describes about 90% of all bands.

But these make efforts, oh yes, giant efforts.

Swans ( self-released)
The Magnetic Fields
Einsturzende Neubauten (they are now on Potomak)
Starflyer 59
No Age (weirdo rippers on small label)
Interpol (matador is definitely indie)
Liars (mute ain't a major)
Deerhunter
Oneida

get everthing you can of these, they are just as good as bloc party but really kind of different in a lot of ways- to say the least but I think it's time to grow- you are ready!

I really enjoyed

The Blood Red Shoes album.

Yep me too what a cracker

Elle Milano album was also the muts nuts

To back up yesplus3's point

also try Mew, they're awesome.

get some

4 or 5 Magicians

Cage the Elephant

Tired Irie

Cut Off Your Hands

and then have a jolly good dance

I agree that everythings to London based...

But delta fiasco are from Liverpool and theyre utter dross....jib them off and listen to something good

how

on earth are 'Cage The Elephant' indie?

And how are they good?!?

Listen to some Los Campesinos!

then some Late Of The Pier. and then wait for 10 minutes to boil.

depends on your classical opinion of indie

many cage haters on here, do ppl ever stop moaning
yawn

no one can beat bloc party

try hot club de paris.
or elle milano, they try.

i was

just about to point out Elle Milano.
they most definitely try.
get songs now!

The new album from 'Clinic' has some decent numbers on it

'The Witch' & 'Memories' are particularly thrilling and show great effort on their part so they are definitely trying really hard!

Former Fear Of Flying chaps White Lies are also damn good.

ps - The Delta Fiasco are not 'dross'!!

pps - Is it me who is supposed to be a Londoner? Cause Im not, Northern Monkey through and through!!

all of Clinics songs still sound the same!

Although they were pretty good when i saw them recently. And all wearing Hawaiian Shirts :D

I'm really enjoying

Dirty Projectors just now, they're really really brilliant, i recommend you listen to them RIGHT NOW.

Been listening a lot to

"Rotating Leslie" today!, hard-hitting and stompy, catchy but not crappy pop lyrics
