Trance makes my trickle

From Underworld to Agnelli & Nelson…the Trance spectrum is pretty broad.

Okay, to be honest it’s all the same exhaustive ambience lapped up by the pill-‘ed’s , but anything that can get your head wagging as you ponder existentialism and the like (oooo…your putting your Philosophy degree to practice) is surely worth a listen.

So. Recommended tracks? I’ll give you Xpander by Sasha. Has a hint of melancholy wrapped around an ethereal air (or other wanky descriptions).

Rabbitweed is where that Sasha EP is at

Xpander is alright though. I like Underworld but never though of it as trance. Trance gets a very bad name mind cos of alot of crap. Its never been as good as techno and all that stuff

York - The Reachers of Civilization

It's quite beautiful.

Xpander...

isnt really trance in my books, i'd say more progressive house..but whatever..its still amazing. That whole ep is boss, it takes in loads from ambient (baja) to breaks (belfunk)..i dunno

also...

i havent answered you question. soz

...

I'm not enough of a music bod to differentiate between Trance and House.
I just know that both get me doing that 'pray to the heavens'' dance when I'm wizzing on Ribena.

Cheers for the response anyway, mate.

bang

I find alot of Sasha's output too minimalist. I like the explosive ‘angel rapture’’ of Xpander (Edit).

Check out a tune called

2 freaks By Rennie Pilgrem & Blim... its a break beat beast with trancy synths its really good. check out a clip of it here http://www.tunetribe.com/Artist?artist_id=10421

This looks pretty comprehensive

Its a massive list ranking 400 trance songs... The intro is pretty funny too!
http://www.listology.com/content_show.cfm/content_id.14398/Music

check that list...

...if you really fancied spilling your mind to some Trance.

And ahem ahem...I present you with the following extract:
''Sasha - Xpander [1999] [progressive trance]
Perfect progressive trance. A melody that, like the last 2 tracks, is atmospheric, loops on itself, and endlessly contagious, without seeming repetitive. This song is absorbing - the feeling throughout is impossible to describe, since like I said before...dancing about architecture. Just download the track. It's incredible. (Was another mega-European hit. I don't know the details specifically, but it doesn't matter). ''

Progressive TRANCE I hear you cry.

shameless plug...

But since trance and progressive house has been mentioned - I'm going to mention my track Always on the Run - it's on itunes all independent based - been in the clubs for a while.
It's on myspace.com/florencehall but also on itunes and the like

DJ Sharkey

does some awesome trancey stuff.

motorcycle

as the rush comes (gabriel + dresden sweeping strings remix)

its the best progressive trance song in the world. and that should mean a lot coming from someone that knows nothing about trance.

last fm has full song:

...

I still stand by my assertion that Alice Deejay's 'Better Off Alone'' is an epic track that does the genre justice.

And I know this will arouse some discuss.

sasha thread!

After thinking for far too long that he made cheesy crap I actually listened to the man and felt a bit silly. His latest singles are some of the most interesting pieces of dance music around. Building and dropping in unexpected places and generally having much more going on than most tunes. Check out Mongoose for starters. Then see him live and go on a bit of a journey

If your bang on Sasha...

Download 'Pip-potamus''.

^ mongoose

one of the best tracks of last year

the minimal techno thread

really has brought all the dance music heads out of the woodwork hasn't it?!
haha, oh well. at least it's not another thread about HEALTH or some equally as boring new band!
i'm not a huge fan of trance, but Tiesto's Adagio for Strings does hold a very special place in myh heart...!

...

I didn't even know the Minimal Techno Thread existed when I posted this thread.

damn!

oh well.
glad it's on here though. there should more dance music on DiS...

Vera Cocha - 'Carte Blanche'

was one of favourite songs, many moons ago in my Trance loving days. The build up of the song is so epic, it could still get me dancing to this day. That and Gouryella - 'Gouryella'. Now let's never mention my previous love of Trance ever again.
