There is twangy, lo-fi punk blaring out of my stereo as this is written. My leg is shaking uncontrollably. My body is swaying. This is a problem because I am sitting down. Maybe White Man Kamikaze do want to be The Sex Pistols. I don’t care. They sound good enough to beat the crap out of The Strokes.
Peculiarly named are the members of this London band. Cujo Disraeli is the man giving it the “doo doo doo hoo hoo” in the chorus: Genius? Carefully hushing his guitar, he restrains the other members – Johan Van Der Horn and Jimmy Van Dijk - until they are allowed to burst into the frenzied attack of ‘Nightbus’.
‘Rock Whore’: “You ain’t special, dirty rock whore of mine!” This is maybe the weakest song of the three with a slightly less frantic tempo and it made me laugh, so it’s ok. Funky, low-lying beats adorn the skies of ‘Nature Boy’ with intermittent whooping infusing the immediate horizon. Dance with me. You will, eventually. This is real garage music.
