made me realise we need a thread dedicated to this man.

I'm not going to pretend I'm some sort of die hard Alan Partridge fan myself, I've only ever seen a few episodes, but I'm a foreigner so I'm excused.

24 Hour Party People is pretty much my bible though. Except I don't go to rave parties and do e. So basically it's just my favourite film and I quote it a lot, and I think Steve Coogan is just fantastic in it.

He was also looking quite hot in Coffee&Cigarettes btw.

he makes me lol

I've never watched Alan Partridge though...

Alan Partridge makes life seem worse after watching it

purely because you know its the peak of human acheivement

we watched some Partridge clips in a lecture

a few weeks back. It is clearly the winningest course there is.

Off to London, no doubt.

Go to London! I guarantee you'll either be mugged or not appreciated. Catch the train to London, stopping at Rejection, Disappointment, Backstabbing Central and Shattered Dreams Parkway.

alan partridge is obviously amazingq

I think I like steven coogan even better under the presumption that he's a complete cock (from what i've heard) in real life too.

yeah it just makes it even better

i would like to think hes a bit of a dickhead rather than complete cock though

so what's the deal with his stand up acts

was he ever any good?

Lovely stuff.

Idea for a programme: get Jet from Gladiators to host a millennium barn dance in Yeovil. MUST NOT turn into an all-night rave.

'Ladyshapes' with Alan Partridge.

Wings? They're only the band the Beatles could have been.

I've gone off him

since I learnt that he was apparently responsible for Owen Wilson trying to kill himself. Although, this is according to Courtney Love - not the most reliable of sources.

but

how can that make you appreciate his comedy skills any less?

I think I prefer Paul Calf to Partridge

even though that's sacrilege in most people's eyes.

24 Hour Party People is fantastic though even though I'm not 100% convinced by Coogan's Tony Wilson in it. Much prefer it to Control although I suppose it's not fair to directly compare the two.

they are very different

what was funny was seeing how the Wilson in Control is pretty much based on Coogan's Wilson.

Do you think?

I didn't see enough of him in Control to spot that. Mind you, I did watch it towards the end of a particularly harrowing plane flight so maybe I wasn't paying full attention.

yeah

I think he resembled Coogan a lot more than the actual Wilson. Then again, it could just be my obsession with that film coming into play, I can't really tell for sure

Any love for Saxondale?

its not as quotable as partridge but i think its brilliant. its very well layered and gets better each time you watch it because Tommy is a much easier character to sympathise with than Partridge. I also love Tony Ferino for the 'bigamy at christmas' song (bigamy at christmas, what can i do, spend it with the family, i cant ive got two)

24 hour party people is one of my favourite films too

easier to sympathise with

isn't that kind of the point with partridge though, he's not supposed to be likeable, that's why it's funny?

he isn't likeable but when he gets angry, you do cheer him on

Plus 'DAN! DAN! DAN! DAN! DAN!' Pause 'DAAAAAANNNNNNN!' makes me lol and shed a little tear of pity at the same time. Alan Partridge is pretty incredible.

i feel sorry for anyone

whose name is Dan these days because its pretty impossible to talk to them without shouting 'DAN!' in Partridge voice

yeah, obvs Partridge is a prick

and dont get me wrong, i love it, but i like Saxondale because its not so clear cut whether he's a dick or not. What i'm trying to say is that the character of Tommy is more complex than Alan, and thats what appeals to me.

Saxondale was pretty good too.

There's one episode where I think he's talking to a racing driver in his house, and starts jumping up and down in excitement.

He's not completely dissimilar from Partridge, maybe more self aware and someone you can sympathise for.

you've never had beens in a cup?

ah you've never lived man.

anyone

going to his standup tour in October!?

details plz

bet it's expensive though.

it is

its about 30 quid...and i think the tour is called something like 'steve coogan presents alan partidge and other less successful characters'...

ME!

Very excited.

I laid down the foundations

for the new Larry
