I've heard a lot of positive stuff about them, but what are they like? What can they be likened to?

They're kinda small,

covered in feathers, they like mice apparantly.

get out

... of my life. x

I couldn't resist!

sorry :-P

jazzy emo.

they're like the best thing ever basically.

emo/indie/jazziness. like this town needs guns but better (no offence to mr this town needs guns person who frequents this board, i like your band but owls are better).

they're different bands though (well dur!)

Ttng are way more pop.
Owls take a bit of listening but are fab.
I prefer american football though. they're my fave kinsella band.

agreed

American Football are wunderbar

no offence taken

they're just about my favourite band ever and are of course way better than we'll likely ever be. For a start they had Tim and Mike Kinsella as well as two of the greatest guitarists of their generation (Sam Zurich and Victor Villereal).

JAZZY WORLD MUZAKY INDIEMO

or just look at my profile

they have

the best kinsella ever. EVER!

which is the best?

cos they both have solo stuff if you just want to mainline tim or mike

and they dont have nate, who can drum AND organ AT THE SAME TIME

Thanks crew

just ordered their album.

...

Excellent. Now I'm going to say the words "Being punched by a 4 year old girl" to describe their music and when the CD comes you'll know what I'm talking about.

you really like them

i know this. i have the msn conversation logs to prove it.

:D

Where did you order it from, out of interest?

Canny find it anywhere, apart from HMV on backorder.

twit twoo

The Owls record is one of the best records I have ever heard. It completely changed my life. The lyrics and music are on another level to most bands. It's beautiful stuff. I'd recommend it to anyone.

yes

yes

amazon marketplace

always.

Try this

I think they're grrrrreat but Tim's latest band Make Believe does what they do better. Make Believe oddly reminds me of FOals:

http://www.myspace.com/makebelieve

Getting people to agree with you on that will be hard.

Make Believe didn't really live up to the potential of there first EP. And I think the next Make Believe album will be the last one to feature Tim.

Joan Of Arc have a new album out through Polyvinyl soon and I'm very excited about that. Joan Of Arc almost match Owls in my opinion.

Where as I agree that

Make Believe sound bugger all like Foals, I do think that they're ace. They're not as good as Owls (but then Owls are my favourite Kinsella related band), but they come in a close second (joint with AF).

I find that JoA are a bit to hit and miss, whereas I've enjoyed everything that Make Believe have done. The new tracks I've heard off the latest LP sound incredible. They just get better and better the more I listen to them.

make believe

have never bettered that first ep, although their records are atill better then most other bands.

owls are brilliant. simply brilliant.

hmmmm

not sure about that. Abracadabra - Thumbs! is still my favourite Make Believe song though.

temping as a shaman

is in the top ten kinsella songs of all time.
i got hold of the new joan of arc record last night. best record since "so much staying alive..". turns out tim kinsella can actually sing.

Owlls are better

And they're playing at the Buffalo Bar tomorrow. Woot.

lol

The Owls album is in my top 5 of all time:

Incredible live band as well - Victor Villareal is the best live guitarist I've ever seen.

possibly my favourite album

i heard internet rumours that a possible reform was hampered by the same problems that split them up in the first place. boooo.

no

No reformation. Victor isn't doing music at the moment.

yes

this is what i was getting at.

The Owls are a bit like Man City in the mid 90s

but you just wait til Frannie Jeffers is fit...
