being able to go to gigs more easily, being able to see friends more easily and not having to get the last train home that I almost forgot moving back to London is going to rape me.
right now rent eats up about 50% of my 'income'. when i get a job - which i must within the next six weeks - it's likely to be more like 30% (after tax)
meaning rent, bills, council tax, insurance, my travelcard, blahblahblah (but not including food shopping) are covered by about 45% of each of our (gf + me) individual incomes
without bills, I think if you were earning good enough money you could go up to a half but it depends whether it's better to live in a bit of a hovel and be able to get out more often or struggle to afford somewhere nicer.
mine is just over 1/4
^ FUNDED BY LONDON TAXPAYERS!
sucks to be a Londoner then, eh?
i only live here because i like the pain of it all.
I'd got so caught up in the idea of
being able to go to gigs more easily, being able to see friends more easily and not having to get the last train home that I almost forgot moving back to London is going to rape me.
It's definitely worth it though!
when paying rent
roughly a third.
^ This
i dont know what a good percentage is tho
A third is 33.3333333333 recurring
HTH
A third is Thirty SMEE point SMEE SMEE SMEE SMEE SMEE SMEE SMEE SMEE SMEE
recurring
:D
for once
10/10
mine is currently 40%, not including bills.
i don't think this is a good percentage.
i'd say 1/3 would be ideal.
mine is 1/6
but i still live with my parents :(:(
mine is currently about a third
which i think is good! i've always worked on the rule that 50% should be the top limit.
I'm paying not far off 50%
as i'm being RAPED by my work contract, but only 2 months left.
Before or after tax?
after
Well in that case
about 10%. I earn too much and my rent's cheap.
A 'good percentage' would depend on how much you earn i suppose. If you earn 200k a year then you'd still be ok if your rent was 75% of that.
Remember when I drunkenly staggered around the Windmill saying I was JohnM?
Can that be true now please?
Heh heh.
£150,000 a year in rent, though... OUCH!
Sure, why not
you realise how much my life sucks, right?
No, but quite frankly....MONEY!!!
You going to the DiS gig in London next Tuesday? Because I can 100% categorically state I will be there.
What's that, the Johnny Foreigner thing?
Didn't realise it was a DiS type thing. OK, I may go then if you 100% absolutely certainly guarantee you'll be there.
Well I have tickets!
And seeing as I have my girlfriends and Kaaj's tickets, I don't think they'd be all that impressed if I didn't show up!
then you could afford to live here!

Pretty sweet

But 700 PW per person? Jeesus.
quite.
this is pretty sweet as well: http://tinyurl.com/49jsko
i love the idea of living in a house in the middle of The City :D
oh MY
http://tinyurl.com/6co7pu
Wow
If you can afford to pay rent like that why not just buy a place?
oh MY 2

OH MY 3

Which brings to mind the serious question:
Why doesn't the person who owns that place fucking live in it? Jesus!
because we live in a society
where large amounts of property is not owned by faceless profit-driven corporations, rather than actual people? ;)
what the shit
the bed is ROUND
Last month = 41.55%
Before it was less than that, I've finally started paying tax. :(
I still live with my mum by the way.
And this 41.55% pays for all my bills and all of the food I eat at home, so it's actually a really good deal.
mine is just under 50%
which i think is usual. for london anyway.
maybe 50% after tax is usual
before tax it certainly isn't!
(else everyone would be paying £200 pw)
Who even thinks about how much they get before tax though other than the total salary?
I only ever look at my net pay, split milk and all
*spilt
true true
right now rent eats up about 50% of my 'income'. when i get a job - which i must within the next six weeks - it's likely to be more like 30% (after tax)
A third
but it'll drop to slightly under that next month when my pay rise kicks in
0%
My rent is paid for by my employer. Lucky me.
in the form of your salary?
aren't most peoples?
Let me clarify...
... my rent is paid directly by my employer. They pay the landlord.
lucky for some!
i guess me also. I won a scholarship so i don't really 'earn' money, they just give it to me. So i don't reallllyyyy pay for anything at all.
A third for me too...
but that includes CT, phone, broadband, telly and the other standard stuff.
Mine rent is about 10% of my monthly wage
I hope I can keep it this low forever :D
Roughly 22%
After tax and other deductions.
Before tax it's more like 15%.
Mine is 43.60%
mine is currently about half
but with my new salary it would be a quarter. wow, i am getting a nicer place.
Nah, stick in the same place
and have more for beer, yeah?
Listen to this man
Truth eminates from him
you just wnat me to live near you
ALL of our regular shared costs
meaning rent, bills, council tax, insurance, my travelcard, blahblahblah (but not including food shopping) are covered by about 45% of each of our (gf + me) individual incomes
my share of the rent vs my income is about 30%
Mine's over a third
without bills, I think if you were earning good enough money you could go up to a half but it depends whether it's better to live in a bit of a hovel and be able to get out more often or struggle to afford somewhere nicer.
about
25%
Around a 1/3
hopefully it will be less with the new job
only if you're good
which I will be
31.15%
mine is 30%
Just worked out mine as 45%
But my flat is pretty nice, and 10 minutes walk from work, which is a HUGE bonus as it cuts down on travel costs and stress.
31%
and that includes bills. That's the best ratio yet for me.
about 150%
rent is £280 a month, i make £180
my mummy and daddy give me lots of monies.
about 40%
I wouldn't mind if I was living somewhere worth paying for.
Mine:
technically 18% after tax.
In actuality, more like 30%,
...
NONE OF YOUR FUCK.
they pay people to live in Leytonstone?
Just under 39%
Could be better. Could be worse.
My half of our mortgage
payments comes to approx 50% of my monthly wages :(
about
1/5 or a little less.
yet i'm still always skint. well done me.
Just over a third of my net monthly income I suppose.
28%
1% (I know this is silly but 'good' as in based on what exactly)
