Do you actually ever say 'Hi' in real life?

Don't you think it sounds really crap?

"Hi!"

Something missing, isn't there?

Hi!

^ he's right

what's missing?

"...ho silver"?

usually

maybe it's an American thing. (or maybe it's just you, you're a bit "different" aren't you?*)

*i don't mean this badly, i like you.

you know, wrighty

i think you are sort of like a modern day dandy, in a way. but in a good way, basically.

hi

have i said this poorly? cause i mean it all very well, but i think have sort of shitted my articulation.

Thankyou.

I love you too.

Howday!

i say "heeeeeey"

or "yo" mostly.

I say hello too, but never hi.

hitler?

I don't think Hitler was in to

such informal greetings.

I only use it....

replying to emails.

Of a formal nature, but after an introdction.

Saying "hello" sounds weird

unless you say it in a "funny" voice like Well hellooooo there.
I say What's up home boy, but that's just because I'm down with the streetz

Hi

I say hi IRL as well, fancy that! DiS is electric on a Friday afternoon!

Which is why I always add a syllable,

such as 'hiya' or 'he-ey'('hey' split into two syllables).

Although more often I say 'hello'.

never, it's brass

i generally say 'heeeeeeeyhowsitgoing'

I say 'Yo!'

i usually say 'hello'

sometimes 'hi'
never 'hey'

on a completely unrelated note, daytime dis is so rubbish.

hi

take that back right now!

I do

but not when greeting people.

More like

"HI WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU DOING?!?"

Most greetings are fine..

..as long as you don't sound super serious when saying them.

actually

this is a really good point which I'd never thought of. It'd just sound weird if someone said 'hi' out loud.

I almost always go with 'hey' although there's nothing wrong with 'yo' once in a while.

Soz OS,

but 'hey' is approximately five times worse than 'hi'.

Do you live in an episode of Friends?

i say 'alright'

which confused my american flatmate as she thought i was seeing if she was ok as she looked sad.

I tend to say 'alright'

when I'm passing people in the street. Which is really stupid on hindsight. Especially when they reply with 'not so bad yourself?' and you're already about ten minutes down the road and you've got to shout 'i'm good cheers' and everyone hears and thinks 'what's that psychopath shouting at me for?'

i know!

this same thing happens with my american flatmate, i saw her today and i said alright, she replied with im well thanks how are you, i said im good cheers and sort of did that think where i tried to keep my head still as my legs walked. it also makes it really awkward as youve had a mini conversation but not said bye or anything. in hindsight i should perhaps just say hello, but its just natural for me to say alright.

i always say "hello"

really. boring.

So do I. Or 'iya'.

When can we meet?

Depends.

Do you prefer passive? I can do passive.

passive is boring.

but you actually scare me on here! sometimes.
i'm in germany apart from field day (which i am 75% likely to be going to). 3.5 months to go and i will no longer be a resident of munich! huzzah.

it doesn't sound crap the way i say it

haha. but then i'm prone to silly voices.

i say yo

I say "hello" or "alright"

Depending on who they are, I usually say "alright" to acquaintances and hello to anyone else. Though I always say "alright" to uber-masculine types for some reason - maybe my head thinks it's less effeminate than hello for some reason.

'Alright Mate'

That seems to be my stock greeting of choice.

I think so

I'm not sure. Yeah, I do, but with some weird inflection on it. Usually over the phone, I think. Yup, usually over the phone. In person it's "Hey".

saying "hiya!" is worse

unless you're a girl in pigtails.

i say "hey", irl.

superloser

stop being so wrong and confront yourself

I say "Heeeeelllooo"

In a semi pervy manner.

don't be so bitter wrighty

i'm sure you'd look adorable with pigtails

no way.

I'm all about the hiya.

I say 'hi', IRL.

anything else is too much effort.

^insight.

is there an equivalent to

'Hallochen '* in dutch or flemmish or whatever else you speak?

*worst greeting ever.

I'm not really sure what Hallochen is...

People tend to just say Hallo, Dag or Hoi (Hoi's a bit more Dutch than Belgian though.)

They all sound a bit rubbish.
Especially "Daaa-ag!"

Oh

and 'da yoof' use lots of English greetings like heya and hiya and yo.

YO!

HOE GAAT HET?

agreed

i never really say it ever in any proper situation
