So, I just set up voice recognition on my mac

and I think I slept through the future and have only just woken up as this is the most amazing thing EVER!!

I had it set so that I had to say "Computer" before it did anything for me (which was cool in a sci-fi movie way) but now I have it set to my girlfriend's name (Jackie).

"Jackie! Open Firefox! Thanks doll."

Amazing stuff.

i was gonna ask how to do it, it sounds ACE. but, i thought it might get annoying after a while? i <3 my mac.

Also Apple is trying to make Macs more accessible so there is a basic screen reader for people who are partially sighted, and voice commands for those who'd struggle with a mouse for whatever reason. None of them are great as full-time solution but could be useful if someone with those problems is using the computer very occasionally.

i've had my mac

for a month now and thanks to this thread have just discovered the voice recognition. this could possibly change my life.

its like the future....

computer switch to ical, computer switch to safari, computer make tea.

its a little bit unresponsive but I'm sure no more than then double fingered scroll I'll get used to it.
