Morning all, I hope a good sleep has helped yesterday's events sink in a bit. Things remained 'as you were' in the Premiership despite Sky's attempts to have you believe that it was the most exciting end to a season on record I don't really think it was.

So Manchester United are worthy winners after beating Wigan 2-0 despite a bit of controvesy. Steve Bennett now facing accusations of being a fully paid up member of the United supporters club. To be honest, he should have sent Scholes off but he won't be the last referee to bottle a big decision.

In the end Matty Taylor's equaliser for Bolton at Stamford Bridge didn't really count for a great deal but for meaning Bolton stayed up by a point rather than goal difference. A scary looking injury for John Terry doesn't appear to be as bad as feared which will be good news for Chelsea ahead of next Wednesday.

Congratulations also to Fulham whose amazing last 5 games sees them stay up. I can't imagine how gutting you must be as a Birmingham or Reading fan having seen your team score 4 times and still go down. Still, I suppose the beauty of the league is that you're judged over 38 games and not just the last day.

Which is lucky for Man City. A horror show at the Riverside sees them lost 8(eight)-1. Admittedly hampered by the loss of Richard Dunne to a red card early on City seemed to go from bad, to very bad to catastrophic in the space of 90 minutes. Well done to Boro' though, a fine performance.

Well done to Everton for sealing the UEFA Cup spot thanks to a 3-1 win over Newcastle, and also to Villa for sealing the Intertoto Cup spot after their 2-2 draw at West Ham.

Watford have it all to do in the 2nd leg of the Championship play offs after a 2-0 defeat to Hull. They got a bit of a raw deal with a perfectly good goal disallowed early on but to be honest, Hull were good value for the win after that. In the other Championship Play Off a David Noble biffer seconds from time gives Bristol City a 2-1 win over Palace at Selhurst Park. Neil Warnock said to be blaming the referee for a change.

In League 1 it's all to play for as Southend and Doncaster draw 0-0. I'm assuming Carlisle and Leeds play tonight.

In League 2 Stockport and Wycombe draw yesterday at Adams Park and Darlington beat Rochdale 2-1. Nothing at all decided yet. I love the play offs.

Finally, congratulations to Webbsfleet United in the FA Trophy beating Torquay United 1-0 thanks to Chris McPhee and also to Kirkham & Wesham who beat Lowestoft Town 2-1 thanks to teenage sub Matt Walwyn's brace.

Micah Richards is a target for Man United.

Inter Milan may beat Spurs to the signing of Samuel Eto'o.

Jordan Stewart is set to sign for Derby on a free transfer.

Steve Coppell is likely to quit Reading after a meeting with John Madejski. That would be a shame.

it was bad enough

the other week but yesterday it was non stop, so much so that even the commentators pointed out that he does not have a divine right not to be tackled

It's not even like he's being tackled

Several occasions yesterday he got a slight bump from another player (couldn't even be called a challenge), stopped playing despite being in posession and flapped his arms a bit.

he must have done it

about 5 times. It's pathetic.

^5

the only game that matter is tonight.

fucking come on leeds.

Fucking don't turn up Leeds

About the only chance of the result being the right one...

i've counted chickens before

and been shat on for it. so i'll be happy with anything other than a defeat tonight. Carlisle, like everyone else, HATE US and will up their game accordingly, I'm sure.

No, they just hate Huntington

They're also carrying about as much form as entering a Blackpool donkey into the Derby.

yup...

they're not in form, but as the cliche says, that means nothing in play-offs.
It's been so long since something has gone right for us, I won't be banking on anything until the final whistles goes at Wembley and we've won.

Gary Madine is going to score a hat-trick tonight

and stuff you up.*

*This will not happen.

heh

i look forward to that not happening.

Yesterday reminded me a LOT of this:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VF_uOgyBK1c

All that excitement and the table finished up pretty much as it started.

LOL at Man City

Pleased Fulham stayed up

Can never hate a team that Jimmy plays for.

Did you not see it?

30 yards out, SMASH!!!!!!

certainly did

last seconds as well. I've just never heard a strike being describe as a biffer before.

Ah, ok.

It's what I used to call long range goals when I was a boy.

I'd love Hull to go up

Man Utd were fully deserved winners over the course of the season. The most frustrating thing for me is seeing how close we were in the end and knowing that if we'd pulled our fingers out on just a few occassions that we played for a 1-0 win or a draw, it wouldn't have even been a competition. Yesterday's draw when we knew we needed a win is emblemic of our season and the reason Grant needs to go. It isn't about failing to deliver the title, its about our performances being too hit or miss underneath him. We were boring under Jose, but at least we ruthlessly mechanical, gridning down teams rather than grinding out results.

And LOL at Man City's defence

Grants record isn't

that different to Mourinhos is it?

Isn't the point I'm making really

I suppose you'd have to watch Chelsea as often as only a Chelsea fan would, but very rarely have they inspired confidence this season. I really can't see Grant attracting many big names either

It's still Mourinhos team

isn't it, I think he's done pretty well but like you say I don't watch the majority of Chelsea matches.

I don't think Grant has done terribly

Obviously he hasn't: 2nd when we looked very shaky last October and in the Champions League final. I'm still of the opinion he should never have been appointed as manager. His tactics this season have been dubious at best and I'd struggle to think of a game this season (other than against your lot actually!) where we have dominated both the game and the scoreline.

It is still Mourinho's team, but thats what galls me slightly. Same team but they don't seem to have the same ethos.

he was always seemed

like a temp appointment. Will be interesting to see what happens if Chelsea win next week

his one big desicion

seems to have been signing anelka, which hasn't really paid off yet.

Really?

Like Champions League Semi Finals you mean?

Kirkham & Wesham?

I'd never heard of them until yesterday. Where are they from? Why do they have a name that sounds like an arms manufacturer?

I'm pretty gutted

but that's what happens when you fall apart in the second half of the season.
It'll be interesting to see if Coppell stays now.

I haven't read any of the stuff about his future

but I'd say he'll at least start the new season with you lot, see if repromotion looks likely ,and if it doesn't he'll leave in october november time when the prem teams start sacking managers.

Inter Milan may beat spurs to sign Eto'o.

oh well. we need a new transfer target then.

i think we'll get messi, bojan, benzema, van der waart and podolski.

only about a month till the really ridiculous spurs transfer rumours start - I can't wait!

Spurs to swap Wesley Sneijder

for Pascal Chimbonda, a bumper pack of Aldi socks, three bags of Space Raiders and Anthony Gardner?

Spurs to buy a left winger?

a left winger?

now you're just being facetious.

:'(

for the lack of a proper farewell for Paul Robinson.

:(

he's a nice guy. did the fans do/sing anything re:berbatov? I wasn't paying much attention to MOTD.

i wasn't there

non member getting a ticket for the Liverpool game on the last day of the season being highly unlikely and all, but didn't notice on the brief minutes of MOTD we were given. Gus seemed to be speaking entirely different words to those that his facial expression and body language were saying regarding Berbatov's departure.

stilll, London's only trophy (assuming the Champions League goes where it should etc...)

over the moon about yesterday

it was hard work and I must admit it was squeaky bum time when I heard Chelsea were 1-0 up, but a great result nonetheless. I've been Giggs' biggest critic this season but even I was delighted for him when he got the second.

Pleased for Fulham as well, a great achievement. I've always liked Roy Hodgson, he's a good manager who's never had a fair crack over here, and comes across as a genuinely nice bloke as well.

The phrase 'squeaky bum time'

really annoys me and I hate the way it gets dragged out every bloody season.

couldn't be arsed

thinking of a more original/accurate way to describe it tbh.

not moaning at you

just in general.

fair dos

i couldn't help thinking with that City match

the whole debacle felt like some kind of anti-Thaksin protest, saying "look what we can do if you dick us around". i don't think it was, but. it kind of reminded of me of claudio ranieri removing the entire left (or was it right?) side of his team vs. monaco in the champs league semis that time

Rochemback's free-kick

was amazing. Take that Doctor Evil!

I actually said that out loud when it went in.

FAIL.

Svennis' grace is remarkable, what a noble man.

While I've seen or heard nothing but the scoreline

that's what I suggested to ht27 yesterday - Errikson's revenge. I certainly doubt that the scoreline'd have been like that had the chairman not decided to piss about.

and dunne deliberately got himself sent off?

it's a possibility.....

:o)

Seriously, I doubt it was all deliberate, but I'd be amazed if the last week hasn't had a serious negative effect.

and to make matters worse for City

it looks like Fulham might have nicked the fair play UEFA spot after Dunne's sending-off.

http://tinyurl.com/3wbov3

City

Stealing mediocrity from the jaws of success is obviously destiny for another 10 years yet.

barmby*

how old is he now? he was part of the legendary 4-1-5 formation!

What's with the recent

trend of players bringing their kids out after matches?

For everything?

Me too.

I meant to go on about the England Squad as well

some interesting names in there.

Hart, Wheater, Jagielka, Warnock, Huddlestone, Ashton etc...

is that for the trip to the USA and trinidad?

he's basically realised that no one playing for a big team will be bothered to go.

It'd be nice if they all

sacked it off and NEVER PLAYED FOR ENGLAND AGAIN!!!!

Wasn't that Scholari's threat?

Sack off the America trip and you're dropped, potentially for good?

Capello's?

Yeah.

Yes,

him.

*shoots self*

THUDD!

WOOOOOOOO

Nice for Warnock

Not that he'll make the cut, but at least he's registering on the radar. He's been by far and a way the best defender for Rovers this year.

Arsenal brought on an 18 year old English player!

How strange! I wonder which mid table premiership club he'll end up at.

Details/link?

Arsenal are being systematically linked with about 100 different players, so I tend not believe anything until it's on Arsenal.com

Oh I read it as bought instead of brought

Sorry it's Monday morning and I'm an idiot.

yeah i thought so

but I didn't want to point it out or go into detail about him as I thought it was pretty obvs. We are going to buy people in the next 2-3 weeks though apparantly and there'll be a premiership player, so maybe Dunne or Barry or Ronaldo.

Yeah I'm excited about that

Lots of strong links lately, Ben Arfa, Kompany, Yaya, Mario Gomez (?)

Kranjcar might be the prem player?

maybe although

I'm pretty sure he's given up on rosicky so there's a chance he might be looking for that type of player.

Andy Gray

Needs to re-learn the offside rule. At no point was Giggs beyond the last man for his goal, no matter how many times you try and claim it.

Andy Gray needs to

learn to shut the fuck up period. But yeah, borderline offside my big hairy ankles.

I hate Fulham

but I did smile when they stayed up, as I do love Roy Hodgson. What a great manager keeping that sack of shit up, and most of his post match interview was condolences to the other two managers.

Chelsea I have to say well done. You pushed a great side the distance and if a few other things had gone your way...oh my god I feel sick, who am I kidding gutted scumbags I hope you get ripped in Moscow

I'd rather Reading stayed up than Fulham

but I was happy for Danny Murphy, as he's an ex-Liverpool player. Plus is means another season of Jimmy Bullard in the Premier League, which is always a good thing.

Thank Fuck.

the season is over at last... not a minute too soon. congratulations and commiserations to the cubs that had things to play for. funny that Fulham were one of 2 clubs who failed to beat us yet they stayed up... also, interesting interviews with our former chairman before the game, and Jewell after it. i can't wait for August to hopefully taste victory again.

Come on Carlisle!

any opinion on your players

not coming out to say thanks to the fans for their superb support?
