is it just me or is the whole music scene been relatively uninteresting in the last decade or so?
also, when a great band comes along they tend to be fairly anomalous to their location - the only really great and interesting scene for creativity seems to have been brooklyn
i need a really exciting and coherent (and location specific) movement, a paradigm shift in how people write. artists need to start thinking about musical form too, and using it to create four-minute gems of meaning, the pop song formula has so much to offer, form and content need to complement each other.
i want about 4 or 5 bands to practice this and even collaborate with each other. really clever musicians with really clever lyrics doing something relatively different but anchored in what already exists. then i might feel like my generation produced something really exciting, and made people think and analyze music in a much more thorough sense.
i have written more than i first expected, at some point that turned into a rant, sorry
the music you lust for
sounds fucking dreadful.
THat sounds the first two lines
of a great song - keep going.
i would...
but i'd only ruin it.
Perhaps you need to do more research
I could reel off a very long list of bands from the past 10 years or so, but I cannae be bothered.
I think you'll find it's just you.
Well I want the moon on a stick
but it isn't going to happen.
This is DiS not Father Christmas hotline.
It ISN'T?!
Fuck this, I'm quitting again.
