I made some great food for my girlfriend on the weekend

Brighton's having a Fringe festival
at the moment, the sun's out everyday. There's events on the streets and everywhere. In fact for these few weeks Brighton's called Fringe-city. Everyone's having a brilliant time.
Also,I went to an improvisation workshop even though it was at stupid o'clock Sunday morning.
i watched
some kidz perform "rock hits" down by pizza express the other weekend, it was a bit strange!
too much faux culture.
as long as that kid who plays guitar solos allday on the front stays there... life will continue to be awesome :)

it is for desert. it is a simple orange cake. orange! i've never had an orange cake before. for dinner specifically, i am making sweet potato fries (baked, not actually fried) and fancyish-ish macaroni and cheese with baby spinach.

the recipe i'm using calls for egyptian sweet potatoes, but i couldn't get any at short notice so i'm just going with regular ones. it'll be fine i'm sure. i hope so, anyway; screwing up sweet potatoes is an absolute travesty. such a waste. i did it the last time i made them, and i am resolved that that will be the only time i ever do so.

i just put the cake in!
the batter was really fluffy, like a merengue. only it's not a merengue, obviously, it's a cake batter. i can't wait to see how it comes out. it tasted *really* orangey going in. we'll see.

I went to all the HUGE trouble of making an album on my DiS photobucket for these omg. They uploaded really pixelated. I wish I could show on Flickr; it would look so much nicer. But I don't want to link to my Flickr account. The sweet potato fries don't look like much, but they tasted great. It all did.
