Morning chaps. I'm not too sure there's much happening at the moment.
Kudos to Carlisle for beating Leeds last night at Elland Road 2-1. A last gasp Dougie Freedman goal gives Leeds some hope for the 2nd leg, particularly with the number of away wins in the play offs so far.
Tonight sees the return of Bristol City and Crystal Palace. I blame the referee for Palace's defeat (should it happen).
Fergie wins Manager of the Year, somewhat predictably.
Jamie O'Hara signs a new deal with Spurs.
Everton are the latest to become contenders for Michael Owen's signature.
Manchester United are looking at Luis Fabiano as their latest striking target. Daniel Alves is also a possible signing as is Aaron Ramsey.
Nicky Shorey is again going to be pursued by West Ham.
Petr Cech's agent says an unnamed European club is willing to pay £32m for him. Not bad for someone who can't catch. (Jokes)
Hull will make a move for Christian Vieri if they get promoted.
John Bostock, the Palace wonderkid who is wanted by Barcelona and Manchester United could join Spurs after finishing his GCSES.
Falkirk have signed Jackie McNamara.
David Sullivan has blamed the 'pile of rubbish' they bought in the summer for their relegation. Franck Queudrue being the biggest let down.
Iain Dowie is likely to be given the QPR job.
Shrewsbury stand to make £500k if Joe Hart makes his England debut in the next few weeks.
Ian Selley has re signed for Maidstone United's promotion push next season.
Vieri at Hull would be
quite a sight
oooh i like this...
is this a regular thing on here then?
has anyone ever seen this bostock chap play? or the other rated palace lad, victor moses?
it certainly is
who is your team?
Moses played in the first leg of the play offs didn't he?
dirty leeds...
it's a hard life.
it could be a lot worse
it doesn't feel like that...
when it's been so good in such recent history.
quite a soap opera
at Leeds. It's better to have the peaks than no peaks at all.
this is very true
and at least it's been exciting.
who are your team?
West Ham
we've had our peaks and troughs too (though not this season).
You have
it's just that the peak was 9th and the trough was 11th.
too true
10th place for 5 months
next season
you might be in trouble if ashton goes...
is there money to spend?
I've seen a little
bit of Moses on TV, he does look promising, but still pretty raw. Haven't seen anything of Bostock though. They've got another one as well, Sean Scannell I think his name is.
I posted a separate thread, I was too excited. sorry ht27
feel like I should just have waited now.
Boo me.
Ah, don't worry
Go for it kid!
"Zenit St Petersburg boss Dick Advocaat's favourite singer is Michael Bolton."
Worth knowing.
Shorey will definitely go
I can see a lot of the team moving on.
Audacious rumours begin
Christiano Ronaldo to Real Madrid for £100m.
*cough*
more shite from Marca
I would imagine. I would take it with an iceberg-sized pinch of salt.
Yeah
I don't believe it at all. It just caught my attention this morning, along with the Petr Cech thing (Italian club allegedly).
rather amusingly, they're also claiming
that Chelsea are in for Fernando 'Towers' for 50m euros.
http://www.marca.com/
'Fernando Towers is the last whim of Roman Abramovich. According to he has advanced to Alpaca Garci'a Charity, director of Radio MARK, the Chelsea has offered 50 million by Towers to a Liverpool that refuses to negotiate.'
I'd love it if he went to Chelsea
or Man Utd
ah the silly season
approaches and endless tabloid fodder football rumours appear.
oh yes
apparently Utd are going to sign Luis Fabiano and Dani Alves for £30m between them. And Micah Richards for £25m. Oh, and a young lad from Cardiff for £5m.
I fucking hate the close season. I can only hope that if we do sign anyone, it's done quickly and quietly without the usual saga.
you've got it lucky
it's far worse supporting a side where every decent player you have is linked to a 'big club' every sodding summer.
oh aye
forgot we were signing Dean Ashton as well. Good player, but we already have one injury-prone striker who cost £10m+. I'd like to think the club will refrain from panic-buying strikers this time around.
cracking player
but still not 100%, I think he could be very very good and hope he stays.
Stop whingeing West Ham
Your top flight status was secured pretty much straight after Christmas. You need to accept what you are - a fair to medium Premiership club at best and get on with it!
I'll accept it when
you accept the Premiership is the best league in the country. Yeah I thought not.
Nah
definitely not. Any league where only 3 out of 20 teams have a realistic chance of winning it is anything but the best league in any country, and you know it!
the best league is the
one in which the team you support plays in.*
*This does not mean Forest but generally.
Not at our level
Those in the Isthmian/Southern/Northern leagues always seem to want to play in one of the others as each year they all sink to new levels of ineptitude. The grass is always greener...
I don't see why we'd want Richards
He's not really a right back, but a very good center back. Problem is we have the best center back pairing in the league, a right back who is more comfortable in the middle if called upon, and two excellent young prospects who need games.
I'd be very worried if we put anyone else in front of Evans or Pique. We may lose the latter as it is, but if both went...
Richards is a tremendous athlete
but his positional sense is sometimes questionable. Having said that, he's only 20 so has plenty of time to learn. It won't happen in any case, he signed a big contract just this season at City and obviously they'd be loath to sell him to us.
I do think we need a new right-back, because as well as Wes has adapted an attacking full-back (in the mould of Evra) would suit our style of play perfectly. There's been plenty of talk about Lahm, and I reckon he might be a good (and importantly, affordable) option.
Thing is, if we get Lahm
That means Wes is pushed the 3rd choice center back. We'll end up losing Pique or Evans, who I really believe are two of the best prospects in Europe in that position.
I'd be happy with a good forward, though possibly not the traditional striker everyone is on about. I think the flexibility of our front line is our biggest strength - maybe someone who is clinical, but also who can drift a bit.
Not sure such a player actually exists, mind.
Torres...
Benzema is the man
doubt the Glazers have the cash though.
I also think Pique will be on his way. It'll be a shame but he's no chance of pushing Ferdinand or Vidic aside in the near future and I doubt he'll want to sit on the bench for much longer.
Bosingwa signs for Chelsea
Someone tell me he's good, I've only seen him play a couple of times. He seemed very capable, he's also a very attacking wing-back isn't he? Can play midfield aswell I think.
^Shit post
I think he's
first choice for Portugal now so he's better than Paulo Ferreira. I'm quite looking forward to seeing him in the EUROs as he's in my fantasy league team.
If he is..
very fast
attacking
decent defensively
Then I'm happy. Like Evra basically.
Well a lot of commentators in Portugal
are saying that Chelsea have paid way too much for him and that he is an average player so ...
^Shit poster
He was good on PES6
Well that's obvious proof of his ability then.
;)
Why they haven't signed Park Chu Young
is beyond me!
...did anyone see that footage
of the Zenit St Petersburg fans brwling with opposition supporters? Blimey. It all looked very well organised, kinda of like a medieaval battle! It's on youtube somewhere but alas i'm blocked form it at work so someone else will have to post it. Sorry.
Blocked at work
but according to my GMail newsfeed at the top, The Sun is claiming that "Avram is happy to step down and let Rijkaard take over".
Details anyone?
Not even Sky
are running this story. Mind you, it wouldn't surprise me, particularly with ten Cate at Chelsea now.
I think Grant has acted with great dignity in the last couple of days - his comments about Manchester United and Alex Ferguson were good to hear.
He's been refreshing
as a "top 4" manager. A level of humility and honesty that few others have shown in recent years.
I've heard about this.
All I know is that Avram is supposed to be going back upstairs as he doesn't particularly like the limelight.
This will allow for Rijkaard to take his place, that's all I know really. I think there's definitely some truth to the story though.
I wonder who decided to sign Bosingwa? Grant, Abramovich or even Rijkaard possibly. Being a Chelsea fan is so confusing.
or the £7 million pound director of football?
lol
Exactly, who knows these days.
i heard this story a couple of weeks ago.
it stems from Grant's good friend Richard Hughes (?!) apparently saying that avram is a bit shy.
Iain Fucking Dowie
We sacked Gigi for Iain Fucking Dowie.
I despair
He wanted the job after
Holloway went and didn't get it then. Very odd.
Any Orient fans here?
Is Stuart Nelson any good? Apparently we (Lincoln) have been linked with him today.
I know Bostock is young but surely he's heard of Wayne Routledge?
Oh, he hasn't? It's because he went to fucking Spurs!
Have Dowie's family had enough of his ugly mug and sent him back to London again?
Arsenal were likned to Bostock
I would be quite happy with that signing, i'd trust Wenger to make him good.
Italian Serie A
I can't believe it's going down to the wire, this would be one almighty cock-up from Inter if they don't win the title, come on Roma.
AC Milan look like they could miss out on a Champions League spot to Fiorentina. I want to see Kaka play next season, damn this.
Chelsea to sign him?
Jesus loves him, apparently. Although not enough to ensure that Milan win the league. Maybe he should pray mpre
Will Flamini want to come
back to Arsenal when he realises he won't be playin champions league football next year?
Its a bit more exciting
When you see that Inter are away at Parma and Roma are away at Catania, both teams who need a win to stay up. I would have to say Inter seem to be the biggest chokers in world football and they deserve to lose it for Materazzi being a bit of a cunt on Sunday.
Nah...Parma are fucked aren't they?
Don't four teams go down?
Maldini has pretty much decided
he's going to play on next season. I'm pretty sure this is the wrong decision to make, obviously he is a legend but really shouldn't he let them move on and find a replacement.
I hope he never retires..
..can you imagine him playing when he's 50 but no-one dares to drop him from the side, that would be rather amusing.
great interview on sky sports just now:
"so, franc Quedrue, where were you when you heard the news that david sullivan called you usless?"
:D
He's got a point to be honest.
Not that he should have said it or anything, that's the managers business.
But yes still...
:D
Forest have had a £2.5 million bid accepted
for failed Derby striker Rob Earnshaw. I'm sure that is going to make all Forest fans very happy!
As a Derby fan
I fear he'll score a perfect hat trick against us next season.
Screw you Warnock
Ha!
God damn it Trundle
wank all season, then scores a belter
Good luck in the final Brizzle
