a "newbie" musical equipment question

Is there any sort of gadget/port/pedal that can let you plug in multiple inputs into an amp?
Like say I wanted to plug a microphone and guitar into one amp, or would I have to rely on pedals or buy another amplifier?
Probably sounds like an extremely simple question but any help would be great,

a splitter

or line selector pedal.
Think those Boss A/B switch thingies for £20ish do that though i can't be sure, keep meaning to get one myself.

a micro-mixer?

I think you can get small ones with 4 inputs and a gain knob for each?

that's the sort of thing I'm after, yeah

I knew what it looked like, I knew it existed I just had no idea how to find it without knowing what it was called.
